What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
That lightbulb moment, that moment when the student's face lights up and they tell you "ohhh I understand it now." I think that part is one of the most fulfilling episodes as a tutor when you realise you've made a positive impact on their learning experience.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strength would be my ability to adapt my teaching techniques to the unique student. Not all students learn the same, share the same personality or are at the same level so being able to change my approach will allow me to target the student's specific learning needs comfortably.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I found that it wasn't the students abilities that was the issue, but rather their engagement with the content. I want to be the teacher who approaches the content proactively, get them curious and wanting to know "why?" and "how?" instead of just accepting what was given to them at surface level. I find it important to encourage students to overcome their academic difficulties and find ease in their work once they fully grasp the concept, rather than pretending to understand because they feel pressured to or are afraid to fall behind on their peers because it will be a sign of weakness.

Needs to read more to improve her vocabulary. The stories in the exam were quite complex and had words that Arabella had never come across, so getting her to familiarise herself with the higher language will allow her to answer questions on her own.
Arabella was able to do most of the first half of the 2018 paper by herself without help.

The student needs to be more independent in doing the questions to mimic exam conditions but that's definitely difficult when the questions are rather hard for her grade level and require techniques she's never learnt before.
