What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing students receiving the correct care according to their learning ability and eventually going beyond their expectations in academics. I find it enjoyable discussing and teaching maths and science to students and find it extremely rewarding to be involved in seeing students progress academically.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
During my time as a student, I have been taught by several tutors over the years, so I'm familiar with various teaching methods and have accumulated a vast range of resources to help students with their learning. This makes me flexible when creating lesson plans according to the student's style of learning and natural aptitude.
During my lessons, I emphasise the importance of active learning methods. I find that regurgitating facts, and rereading and rewriting notes are an extremely passive technique that does not guarantee long-term retention of information. Instead, I encourage students to focus on active learning techniques such has active recall and spaced repetition, which constantly test the student's knowledge and understanding. In other words, it is far more effective to retrieve information from your brain rather than shove information into your brain.
Finally, I am free any day of the week for students to text or call (if I cannot explain with text), this service is free :)
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing I can do for a student to help them become confident, independent learners who are capable of utilising the correct study techniques for the subject they're learning, applying "secondary academic skills" such as organisation, long-term focus, and a confident mindset during exams.
