Creating a trusting and open relationship with students allows me to understand their difficulties with the subject. By viewing them from the student's perspective, I can apply appropriate strategies to help with understanding. The most important quality of a tutor is not to judge a student based on their understanding of a subject. A tutor should be open-minded and acknowledge that everyone learns differently, and each lesson should be tailored to suit the student. A tutor should also have good communication and listening skills, we should also be able to pick up on visual cues and help the student when they seem confused or need help.
