What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring is a fun experience to have especially when seeing a students enjoyment and enthusiasm grow on a subject they initially disliked. The faces students make when they finally understand a concept or find enjoyment in learning is exactly what I enjoy most about tutoring. I was once in their shoes where I wanted to get better in all my subjects, but didn't know how to, until I started getting tutored and gained an appreciation and enjoyment in all subjects. So being able to pass on my knowledge and seeing these students grow is what I enjoy most about tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, the basic strengths that anyone should have is the ability to explain concepts with ease, being able to understand the students strengths and struggles, and being able to work with the student to ensure they are learning to their full potential. Though I have all these strengths, I believe the most important strength that a tutor needs, and which I have, is perseverance and dedication for their students. It is important for the tutor to be dedicated and show their full support towards the student and their hopes of improving and excelling the tutored subject.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Any tutor should be able to show that they care about their students learning, and making sure the student knows that the tutor wants the best for them. Often, students may feel a lack of determination or care from their tutors or teachers which can cause a gap within the students learning. If a tutor shows that they care about the student and try and make it a fun experience that caters to each students needs and learning abilities, it will unquestionably help the students further learning and understanding.

Christian is taking the effort to understand questions more by asking questions when he's not sure what's going on in the question. He is definitely getting better for these type of questions, specifically dividing questions. He understands them a lot more compared to last week.
In terms of improvement, Christian needs to go through more questions to fully understand the process of these questions. This is specifically for multiplying questions as he struggles more with these compared to dividing.

Christian has gotten better at solving adding and subtracting decimals in word problems. By this I mean he has gotten better in understanding what numbers in the question to subtract and what to add.
Word problems have been identified as a weak point for Christian by his teachers and by his mum. In terms of the lesson we had, Christian definitely is getting better but there are definitely many areas to improve on. When it comes to understanding the question, Christian can understand basic questions that involve either adding or subtracting two numbers in the question. In terms of multiplying and dividing questions, Christian doesn't understand what the question is asking unless explained thoroughly, This is still a starting point so it is fine, but effort and motivation to get better is definitely needed. In terms of finding the solution to questions, as Christian doesn't understood questions, he ends up guessing which numbers to use and whether to divide or multiply. This causes him to make silly mistakes. Overall, more focus on word problem is needed, not just for decimals but all types of topics.

Christian understood whether we had to add or subtract in the question by looking at key words such as "more", "less", "decrease" and "increase". He got better in identifying what they question was asking him to do such as what did we have to find out.
Christian needs more improvement in figuring out what numbers we have to add and subtract in the question. This goes back to understanding the question more before attempting it. He needs to break down the question before attempting it so he knows what numbers to use and what to add and subtract. More practice is definitely needed.
