Set them on the right path. Helping them to understand concepts and develop skills (rather than just doing things for them) will mean that they can go on to use these skills themselves. This is very important for exam-taking. Communication. I ask for their input and check that they understand what I'm saying. I am patient and will explain a…

The most important role of tutors is to help and see their students achieve their academic goals. This is done by being disciplined, committed, and compassionate towards the student's learning. When tutors meet students they need to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of concern. Tutors need to identify these for their student(s) and…

I believe that a tutor can serve as a source of inspiration, not only by exemplifying excellence in their subject area but also by demonstrating key qualities such as determination and resilience throughout their academic journey. Most importantly, a tutor is someone whom students can look up to for guidance and support, capable of effectively…

The most important thing would be being able to be flexible in your teaching strategy so that a kid who may not have understood the concept, understands it in a different way. Being able to do this without losing your temper at a kid who doesn't understand is an underappreciated skill according to me because usually people think of it as more…

Guiding them and showing them how to learn! Everyone has their own unique way of learning and I’ve come across situations where persuading students to learn something in a certain way doesn’t necessarily work well with individuals, I’ve found that it’s always been helpful to start by first understanding the student and their situation…

Make them feel like you believe in them, and ensure you are being kind and patient and encouraging. Confidence in a student makes a huge difference to their willingness to learn and their study habits. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help increase their confidence of a subject through directly increasing their knowledge and understanding of the subject. My strengths as a tutor are that I am patient which allows students to understand and learn at their own pace. In addition to this I believe adaptability is…

As a tutor, the most important thing that i can do for a student is really listen to what they are asking and to try and focus on each student as individuals, and not just parts of a class. I believe that each student has his or her own weaknesses and areas which they wish to improve on. I believe that I am good with children and am patient and…

A tutor should be very patient and let the student learn in his/her own pace. A tutor must develop a friendly professional relationship with the student, help him/her focus on the weak points, and provide continuous encouragement and support. I am very patient and a good listener. I always take the time to listen to what a student has to say…

EzyMath Tutoring have made it so simple and straightforward in getting help for my daughter who is lacking confidence in maths. I can see a real rapport building with her tutor and she is already feeling so much better about her skills and abilities.
Fiona, Wahroonga

Inside WahroongaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Mia worked through calculating area and perimeter as well as practicing addition and subtraction for accuracy.

In Year 10, Ethan focused on solving trigonometric equations and revising the use of the quadratic formula to find roots of parabolas, using worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Grace tackled factorisation of algebraic expressions and reviewed linear systems by working through simultaneous equation applications from recent classwork.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often left homework incomplete, particularly on networks, making it difficult to build fluency before exams—"needs to complete homework provided."

In Year 7, messy written work in measurement meant marks were lost when working steps weren't shown.

A senior student (Year 11) avoided attempting harder trigonometry questions, focusing only on familiar problems and losing confidence with new material.

Another Year 12 student relied heavily on the formula sheet during revision rather than memorising key formulas; this slowed progress in timed conditions.

When feedback was given on careless errors in algebra, it was not always acted upon immediately.

Recent Achievements

One Wahroonga tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to avoid seeking clarification now actively asks questions when stuck, especially during trigonometry sessions—this shift has made her much quicker at correcting mistakes.

In Year 12 maths, another student who previously hesitated with worded problems recently showed new independence by forming equations on his own and identifying where he'd gone wrong without prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who struggled with step-by-step problem solving managed to follow each stage for finding x and finished all ten practice questions accurately in their last session.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Things are going well. Chris is doing a very good job. Since the tutoring sessions, my daughter seems to be more positive and has stated that Chris is explaining the work well, which makes it easier to understand. I am confident that this was the right decision and can't wait to see the results.

I would like to commend Mandy on her fantastic work with Jack.  She has been so patient and we could not have asked for a better match with our son. Their hard work has paid off as we have received several comments from Jack's  teacher telling us how well he is going in maths and that there has been an improvement.

The experience has been great and the results speak for them self. My son gained confidence as a result of the tutoring and i would gladly recommend you to my friends and family. The tutor was very pleasant to work with and very approachable.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Turramurra Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Knox Grammar School - Wahroonga Preparatory Campus.
