Most important thing I believe a tutor can do for a student is to influence the student to become more ambitious and help them learn things quickly and in a more smarter way. Ability to understand each student's calibre and teach according to it in a simpler and friendly…

Ancient History Tutor Wallsend, NSW
The most important thing to do for students is to listen and know how they learn. Knowing their capabilities is needed in order to challenge them while making sure they are engaged and interested in what is being taught or reviewed. I have previous experience tutoring 1on1 and in small groups. Currently I am studying a Bachelor of Education…

Local Reviews

Shireen has been a great tutor for our son over the last two years. He started working with her when he was struggling with math concepts in year 8 and has gone on to be one of the top students in his class. He has also picked up learning skills and now is confident enough to learn on his own. I would highly recommend Shireen.

Inside WaratahTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Tyler worked on adding and subtracting decimals as well as rounding numbers up and down, using his school maths booklet to prepare for an upcoming grading exam.

In Year 10, Chloe practised calculating compound interest and depreciation in financial mathematics, alongside interpreting bivariate data graphs with a focus on plotting non-linear relationships.

Meanwhile, Erika in Year 11 revised normal distribution concepts—including Z-scores and percentage calculations—before tackling dividend yield problems and applying her skills to past exam-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Mathematics, a student's study outside lessons was minimal—"not a lot of study being completed outside of school time (approx. 1 hour weekly), and notes not dated"—which led to persistent gaps in Financial Maths and Bivariate Data.

Missed or incomplete homework also slowed progress; as one tutor observed, "he explained it was because of lack in knowledge to complete the questions."

In Year 7 Algebra, another student's maths workbook was described as "a little more organised and tidy but we will work on that for next year," showing how messy layout can hinder reviewing working and tracking errors.

Recent Achievements

One Waratah tutor recently noticed a Year 12 student who had previously struggled with interpreting complex exam questions now using new strategies like underlining key terms and breaking down prompts, allowing him to complete band 5–6 maths problems almost entirely on his own.

In another session, a high school student who once hesitated to start tasks independently is now attempting and finishing most homework without outside help, even going beyond what was assigned.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student showed clear improvement by tackling ratio word problems step-by-step out loud—where before she would stay silent when unsure—and successfully solved them solo by the end of the lesson.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Sam has been a fantastic tutor for Annalise, she has improved and was very proud of her end of year results at school.

Yes we are very happy with Alexander , Ruby is a hard task master but seems very comfortable with him and happy for him to keep coming back each week.

Connor has improved so much this year, his confidence, organization & overall results have come from a C to a A. I'm not going to do any tutoring through the holidays or for next year as I'm prepared for Connor to put everything into practice and hope that he can maintain his results without the tutoring. I have been happy with Ezymathtutoring and if Connor was to start to struggle again I know where to come.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mayfield Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Callaghan College Waratah Campus.
