A tutor can improve one's overall understand of the subject, not just a specific understanding about a material. That is important because it is building the bigger picture of each subject in the long term. I am flexible in my teaching method, and I am able to adjust to each student depending on what they…

A tutor can always support or help his/ her students, could take student's weakness in a positive way. A tutor can analyse the student's capabilities in a detailed manner which is very helpful to figure out the areas that need more focus and attention. One of my attribute is that i am good at getting to know the student, once i am familiar with…

I believe that developing the learning capability of the student is the best thing a tutor can do because a tutor is only going to be there for a short run however their learning ability is going to assist and stick with them forever. I always make the students aware of what kind of questions can be asked while allowing them to take their time and…

Being able to teach a student enough material for them to be able to pass the class, that is what you are being paid to do. There are also many ineffible qualities that will set apart a good tutor from a great one. Such qualities include, understanding the student, being supportive of them and their emotions and ensuring the student is effectively…

Create a safe, encouraging environment in which a student can feel comfortable to ask questions and learn to work through problems without the fear of failure. For me the most important thing a tutor can do is to guide the student in such a way that at the end of it, the student is able to lead by himself in the direction he was originally intended to go. It is similar to the lines of giving a man a fish to teaching him to fish. The tutor has to ignite the spark of interest in the student so that the…

I believe that tutors must have a good attitude and genuinely enjoy the concepts and the subject. Without this, the student will most likely find the tutoring bland and boring, which would reduce their engagement and their overall performance and knowledge in the subject. My experience as a tennis coach has shown me how different students learn at…

The most important thing a tutor can do is help students build their confidence in their ability to learn. This includes helping them form study habits that can aid them in their secondary and tertiary education as well as frequently revising past concepts to help them build a strong foundation for their future learning. I believe my biggest…

A tutor can be the perfect guidance. Besides, a tutor should have abilities to understand the performance of an individual and carry on the task in an easy and correct way. A tutor always should be smart and capable to conduct the task as per the student's abilities. As I have already worked as a teacher for more than three years before. The…

I guess that would be guiding them to make use of knowledge in real life situations by making connections between concepts and practice. The first and foremost thing a tutor should do is to create interest in the subject that is being taught. The reason is simple, when the student is interested in learning the subject, a teacher's job is a cakewalk. A teacher should make the student believe that subjects like maths are pretty easy and interesting to learn. This can be done by…

Motivating a student is arguably even more important. Any assistance is meaningless if an individual doesn't have a desire to learn. Helping a student to understand what they want to learn and why is the thing I value above all as a teacher. I feel that I have a firm grasp on mathematics that would be useful to share with others. I have a desire…

- A tutor can change their way of thinking towards some subjects. For instance, during their school class, they might think the subject is boring. Our son had a good tutoring experience with Flint. He was good enough to give our son a structured studying thinking and tools to get him through Term 1 successfully. Flint has helped our son to look at problems solving in a different perspective that he was used on his own way of studying, our son has developed enough strategies and tools to be able to carry on on his own for the remainder of the year. We are grateful for Flint for the fantastic friendly experience. He is a great asset as a tutor.

Inside WarradaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sam worked on reading, writing, and locating numbers up to two decimal places and compared hundredths using calculator-based place value activities.

Year 7 student Olivia practised ordering decimal numbers to three places and revised NAPLAN Numeracy test questions with a focus on place value for whole numbers up to one million.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Riley tackled converting metric units of measurement and was introduced to the concept of volume, exploring long multiplication strategies as well.

Recent Challenges

A Year 4 student repeatedly left sections of maths homework incomplete, especially in exercises converting fractions to decimals, which slowed progress on new material.

In Year 8, a tutor observed her working for subtraction with decimals was hard to follow—numbers not lined up, steps missing. This caused repeated calculation errors that weren't caught during checks.

A Year 11 student focused revision only on familiar algebra questions and avoided tackling multi-step worded problems or taking up feedback on errors. When asked about this, he admitted feeling less confident after recent test setbacks and didn't want to "see where I went wrong."

Recent Achievements

A Warradale tutor noticed Brooke, a high school student, has begun tackling algebraic equations independently without relying on her calculator—choosing to solve them on her own, which is a big shift from earlier sessions when she'd avoid manual calculations.

In Year 8 maths, Prajna now takes more time to re-read comprehension questions before answering and has improved her accuracy as a result; previously she'd rush through and miss key details.

For a younger learner, Jye is showing clearer self-correction while reading aloud—he used to stumble over new words but now pauses and tries decoding strategies before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cultural Centre Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Christ the King School.
