I believe the most important thing a tutor can provide a student with is the confidence in themselves that is needed to accomplish what they dream. By explaining things in a way which makes sense to each individual student they are equipped with the tools they require to get where they want to be in life. My ability to explain concepts in a way…

The most important thing a tutor can do is listen to their student and work out the most appropriate way to help them. Not all students learn the same way, and it is integral to make learning desirable and achievable through modifying language used, providing appropriate examples and supporting students to feel confident. My strengths are being…

One of the most important things would be to develop a safe and supportive environment for a student such that he/she is able to willingly clarify any doubts they have. I am open-minded and quite friendly. With my previous students, I have been able to build a good repertoire and trust between us. I am also more than willing to share any…

I believe that the purpose of a tutor is to tailor their teaching as closely as possible to the needs of every individual student; tutors should never take a one-size fits all approach to teaching. Whether that be addressing specific areas of weakness, or adopting a particular teaching style, every student has their own unique needs and ways of…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is first get comfortable with the student, this will allow the student to be able to freely ask any questions that they may have to the tutor. Secondly, a tutor should be patient with the student as there is no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher. If the teacher has patience with…

Teach them that true knowledge comes in understanding concepts and how they apply in real life, not just memorisation of assessed components. Knowledge becomes much more appealing and simple when you understand why you need it. I am very good at teaching maths concepts and chemistry specififically. To be able to mould and modify a lesson plan in accordance to what the student's need. Being compassionate and understanding their struggles and what they lack, going that little extra mile to help them push for them to get what they want with their grades. The moist important thing a tutor can do for their student is help the student come to their own understanding of the content and presenting the content in a more 'digestible' way. Inside Waterford WestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Lucas focused on arithmetic with negative numbers and mastered order of operations through targeted problem sets.

For Year 8, Zane practiced solving equations involving algebra and explored Venn diagrams to understand set relationships visually.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Gurnoor covered key concepts around surds, rational and irrational numbers, as well as significant figures, revisiting recent test material for deeper understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student did not complete assigned maths homework and, when asked, claimed it was done—yet division questions in the warm-up remained a challenge.

In Year 10 algebra, he's very good at solving questions but we're working on making sure he shows all the steps, as skipping working made it hard to catch sign errors.

For a senior student tackling logarithms, there was frequent checking of notes before each attempt rather than recalling rules independently.

Meanwhile, one primary student struggled to stay focused during online lessons; distraction meant less content covered and basic skills (like subtraction) remained shaky.

Recent Achievements

One Waterford West tutor recently noticed a big shift in a Year 9 student who, after struggling with algebraic working out, now talks through his problem-solving steps aloud—something he used to avoid—and shows clearer reasoning on paper.

Another high schooler began actively asking for help instead of guessing when stuck, which let him tackle mean and median questions with much less prompting than before.

For a younger student, mental maths practice is paying off: she's started adding and subtracting up to thousands using regrouping methods, needing fewer reminders and finishing her written problems more independently each session.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Rebecca had her third session with Kerryn tonight and is finding the tutoring helpful.  She has trial HSC exams in three weeks' time and finds Kerryn is good at explaining the concepts that she's struggling with.  I am impressed with Kerryn's calm manner and ability to explain things well to her.

I would like to express my satisfaction with Ezy Math Tutoring and I would not hesitate to use you in the future or recommend you.  Mitchell Fung worked very well with my son and I was very pleased with his knowledge and nature.  A big thankyou.

All is going very well with Eden's tutoring.  We are very happy and our only regret is that we didn't do this earlier. Eden has said she has understood maths more with Calvin than in all her years at school. We look forward to seeing Eden's confidence in maths grow steadily and am pleased she is comfortable with Calvin's patience to keep questioning him in areas she struggles with.
