I believe tutoring is about teaching students to learn independently and truly understand concepts, rather than simply memorising them, giving my student the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed academically. I recently graduated with an ATAR of 96.75, excelling in maths and physics courses. Having just completed these subjects, the concepts…

To give the student confidence and show them that the subject is not beyond their understandings. Prove that It's not difficult but needs to be approached correctly. Almost all students have more than enough talent to do their study, the most import thing in tutoring is to help them to uncover that (sometimes) hidden talent. In addition to my…

Tutors need to be patient, not every student is equally as smart, or equally as attentive. You have to find a balance. A great example I think would be is planting a seed. After you put the seed in the ground, you can put all the water in the world, but it's not gonna grow into a tree in just one day, just like a student, you will break the…

I think it is important to teach the fundamentals so that students have a clear understanding of the basic concepts. I believe it is also important to clearly communicate ideas so that they can then communicate them clearly themselves. Moreover, it is crucial to encourage students to think critically by giving them the opportunity to independently…

The most important thing I can do for a student is providing the tools and resources to be able to tackle problems independently, no matter the difficulty. To do this, it is important to design personalised methodologies that allow students to learn the basic knowledge, get familiar with some examples and then put into practice what was learned…

I believe it depends highly on the students understanding and their level of education. However in saying this, the ability to create interest and enjoyment in a subject is the most important. As from my own experience enjoying a subject and being interested in the topic helps greatly in motivating a person to understand and achieve well in it. I…

I believe explaining a concept in such a way that the student understands it intuitively and can thus use that understanding to solve different problems, rather than simply rote-learning a series of facts, is an incredibly important part of being a tutor. The tutor should be adding to a student's toolkit such that they can solve a variety of…

It is essential for the tutor to present themselves, their content, and their teaching methods in a way which makes the lesson engaging and enjoyable for the student. More important than anything else, an effective tutor must be able to meet the student at their level, whether that is their level of understanding or lack thereof of a given topic, or even going the extra mile and addressing external circumstances they face that affect their academic performance. I think being able to communicate effectively is very important for a tutor.He/she should be able to put himself in the student's shoes. And accordingly elucidate concepts. Every student has his own strengths and weakness in a subject. The tutor should be able to identify these. Apart from this, a tutor should have very strong basics.Only if…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to explain concepts and problems in a way that student will be able to understand. Listening to the student is very important. You need to know when they are getting frustrated and exactly what is confusing them. Sometimes they figure out a different method for solving a problem and if you don't fully understand what they are saying you may not realise they are on the correct track. Not all students learn the same or at the speed so it's important to be patient in teaching at all times. All tutors should make their students feel safe and enjoy the lesson in order for the students to take their time and fully understand the topic without panicking or getting frustrated. 1. Teach at a good pace with a style that suits the student. This one is probably the most important one. This is what people find a tutor for. 1. Be a friend. Inside WembleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ben focused on dividing fractions and working with percentages and fractions in context, practising calculations step by step.

In Year 9, Chloe revisited the division of fractions and tackled trigonometry basics using practice questions, then switched to reviewing essay structure and analysing poetic language features.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Grace concentrated on quadratic functions and practiced applying negative indices within algebraic problems, with extra emphasis on using diagrams for clarity where needed.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in Chemistry was advised to spend more time studying graphical representations of equilibrium, as skipping thorough review left gaps when interpreting concentration/time graphs.

In Year 10 English, a tendency to avoid putting ideas clearly on paper meant explanations of quotes remained underdeveloped—"more detail without using fluff" was highlighted by the tutor.

Missed homework and fatigue impacted one Year 7 student's grasp of new concepts; repeated reviews were needed due to lack of preparation.

Meanwhile, a primary student regularly arrived without attempting assigned work, leading to slow progress during tutorials as foundational misunderstandings resurfaced instead of being resolved.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Wembley noticed a Year 10 student who had struggled with trigonometry now confidently solved right-angled triangle problems and explained her reasoning out loud, something she'd previously hesitated to do.

Another high schooler showed real initiative by getting an early start on her course materials—she came to the lesson with well-organised notes and was ready to tackle new content independently.

In a recent primary session, one younger student who often guessed answers began asking for help when unsure, showing she's more willing to engage rather than stay silent; she finished her double-digit multiplication task without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cambridge Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like SEDA College WA (Wembley Second Campus).
