We all learn differently, in different ways, and at different times. A student may be a visual, auditory or movement learner. Some are a combination of all three types of learning styles. It is my job as an educator to determine how each of my students learn best, and to teach them strategies that they can use to help them achieve their full…

The most important things a maths tutor can do for a student are to listen and be receptive to their concerns. Being a student can be overwhelming, hence why I believe it is essential for tutors to structure their lessons in accordance with the students' needs. Ensuring that the methods of communication and teaching are appropriate for the student…

Make the subject interesting as much as possible so that the students actually understand and love what they are studying, instead of just memorizing the syllabus to pass exams. Also, I believe coming up with simple 'tips' in order to simplify a large content for students greatly helps students understand the subject better. As a uni student…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is definitely making them feel comfortable learning and learn in a fun and rewarding way. No matter the student, if they do not WANT to learn it is extremely unlikely that they will actually grasp the concept. Therefore, by turning learning into a fun experience the student's learning…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student, outside of teaching concepts, is to support the student to arrive at the conclusion/answer themselves rather than leading them to it. A tutor must always support and encourage students to think for themselves. I always listen to my students and encourage them to think out loud. This way…

I believe, as a maths tutor it is our duty to support the students and encourage them through their learning journey. Complimenting a work well done and correcting the mistakes are such examples. Although it may not seem significant it is quite the opposite as it builds the self esteem of a student and gives them confidence to learn the subject. A…

A tutor must not only teach children the subject, but also must prepare them to handle real world situations when it comes to applying what they have learnt in class. We as tutors must give them some practice of those types of situations. I am very friendly with kids, and I want them to be open and always let me know if they understand or not, and…

Evaluating the academic potential and comprehension level of a student is very important for a maths tutor. Only by understanding the current situation, can a tutor estimate the methods to employ in teaching a student or estimate how far back the tutor has to start with the basics. Also, patience is the key to achieving a student's confidence. Not…

Inside WerribeeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ryan revised probability and measurement concepts, focusing on interpreting sample spaces and comparing units of length.

For Year 10, Zara tackled solving simultaneous linear equations using both substitution and graphical methods, as well as exploring quadratic equations through factorisation and completing the square.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Alex worked through VCE General Maths practice questions involving univariate data analysis and normal distribution, using real data sets to interpret mean, median, and standard deviation.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Physics, one student relied heavily on a CAS calculator but did not bring a regular scientific calculator, making exam-style practice less effective. "Using CAS is helpful but it'd be great if Eli could bring a classic calculator next time," the tutor noted.

In Year 9 Mathematics, missed opportunities to consolidate earlier algebra skills meant that during sessions, concepts had to be re-explained from scratch—valuable lesson time was lost to reviewing basics instead of advancing.

A Year 3 learner's home revision focused mainly on familiar question types; as a result, confidence with new problem formats remained low and progress slowed in application tasks.

Recent Achievements

A Werribee tutoring session saw a Year 12 student finally start clarifying which orbital formulas to use in chemistry problems, rather than guessing and hoping for the best.

Another tutor noticed a Year 10 student, after weeks of hesitation, now openly asks questions when stuck on tricky algebra—she used to stay silent but is now quick to seek help and clear up confusion.

Meanwhile, in Year 4 maths, Alice has begun identifying geometric shapes by name without prompting; just last month she'd wait for hints before answering. This week, she pointed out every triangle and rectangle in her worksheet all on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My son was struggling with maths at school and felt that he was falling behind his peers. He asked if he could have a maths tutor. My neighbors recommended EzyMath so we decided to give them a try. The tutor we got was reliable and approachable.  He had a quiet and patient mannor and always encouraged my son to work things out for himself. My son never complained about having his maths tuition, which surprised me! After a couple of months of maths tuition from EzyMath I had a phone call from my son's maths teacher at school to say that he had done so well in his year 10 exams that he suggested my son choose Maths methods as one of his subjects for year 11.  This would definitely not have happened without the tuition he received from EzyMath. Thanks for all your help. It was a very positive experience.

We are very happy with Joshua. He is young and energetic and seems to catch my kid's attention. His English is excellent and he has a very pleasing polite manner.

Ezy maths was very quick in finding the right tutor for my daughter, who is doing her HSC this year. Joyce was very well organized, caring, knowledgeable and used great techniques. Matilda was very happy with her and learned a lot. Ezy Maths gave us helpful hints on how to be prepared and what to expect from a tutor.
