I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help build/maintain self confidence as well as to incite a love of learning by awakening curiosity. Throughout the course of life, it is rather difficult to maintain self confidence due to the never ending competition we face. Having been on this journey myself, I believe that…

I consider the most important things a tutor can do for a student to be providing continuous encouragement and assistance. It's crucial to motivate students, helping them to believe in their abilities and potential. By maintaining a positive and supportive approach, a tutor can foster a student's confidence and enthusiasm for learning, rather than…

Simply to understand the student as an individual. Everyone has different learning styles, what works for some won't work for others. Something I can do as a tutor that perhaps a school teacher might not, is to provide guidance and support in a way the student best understands, prefers and at a pace in which they are not overwhelmed by. When a…

Helping them attain their personal goals as encouragement is a need for many students. I think building confidence and a long-lasting appreciation of learning in a particular subject are the best things a tutor can give to a student. Understanding of content is useful for improving grades in the short-term, but acquiring sustainable skills that will persist beyond the teaching period is an advantage that will be useful for life. I…

Evaluating the academic potential and comprehension level of a student is very important for a tutor. Only by understanding the current situation, can a tutor estimate the methods to employ in teaching a student or estimate how far back the tutor has to start with the basics. Also, patience is the key to achieving a student's confidence. Not being…

The most important thing tutoring did for me was providing a deeper understanding of complicated topics that were hard to grasp. It is also important to be someone that the student feels comfortable coming to with help. So by showing understanding and appreciation for their effort, a student doesn't feel concerned for getting an answer wrong of…

A tutor will have to quickly work out how he/she can approach the young students, beforehand. He/she may need to understand the weakness of students and then the need to improve their study. Mixing well with the students in order to build up their confidence will help your next steps. He/she will always give positive feedback and encouragement…

I feel that understanding the student's weak areas and trying to make him/her feel less intimidated with the problems is the main role of a tutor. Also, another important task of a tutor is to simplify tasks for his/her students. One on one teaching is my speciality. I can simplify problems to students who find it difficult to do the math. Also, I…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is buiding their confidence and enjoyment of a subject that they perhaps once struggled with. I believe that if a student comes into a tutoring session each day begrudgingly with absolute hatred of a subject they won’t absorb what is being taught as well because they’d rather be somewhere…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to listen and be receptive to their concerns. We all learn differently, in different ways, and at different times. A student may be a visual, auditory or movement learner. Some are a combination of all three types of learning styles. A tutor must not only teach children the subject, but also must prepare them to handle real world situations when it comes to applying what they have learnt in class. We as tutors must give them some practice of those types of situations. I am very friendly with kids, and I want them to be open and always let me know if they understand or not, and…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to listen o what the student wants to learn and what they need to learn. A tutor should be able to be ready to answer questions as well. Am happy with the tutor we have currently. She is very warm and friendly and approachable. She is also flexible with the hours and times to suit our lifestyle and school homework schedule. I would recommend Madeline to anyone wanting help with tutoring.

Inside Werribee SouthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Chloe focused on grammar and reading comprehension, alongside building vocabulary through targeted language conventions activities.

In Year 9, James practised analytical essay writing by unpacking persuasive techniques in opinion pieces and planning essays around given topics.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Kacey worked through advanced mathematics content, using transition matrices to interpret network data and applying these skills to practice SAC questions for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student's creative writing lacked confidence; even when correct, uncertainty led to "acting too hastily," so thoughtful ideas were left underdeveloped.

For a Year 11 biology student, notebook organization and homework completion have been inconsistent—"forgot book with Q14 answer extension" meant lost learning opportunities and disrupted review routines.

In VCE Maths, one student's tendency to omit working steps ("only partially solved the question") repeatedly cost marks on assessments.

A Year 10 writer avoided rereading with purpose: "rereading for the sake of it" failed to catch preventable errors, leaving essays unpolished and missing key improvements.

Recent Achievements

A Werribee South tutor noticed Ibrahim, a high school student, now takes real initiative with maths homework—completing assigned tasks independently and highlighting key parts of questions before solving them, a shift from his earlier reluctance and reliance on reminders.

Another secondary student, James, recently surprised his tutor by explaining complex biology topics like osmosis to family members at home; this willingness to teach others is new for him and shows he's internalising concepts more deeply than before.

In Year 5 English, Casey has started double-checking her written work without prompting, fixing errors herself before handing it in.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for the great assistance provided to my two children, Tristan and Grace. They both feel more confident in the maths classroom as a result of the tutoring received through EzyMaths Tutoring.

Kevin and Hugo appear to be going very well. Kevin communicates well with Hugo, and we have a good idea of his progress. Hugo seems to enjoy his lessons and be motivated, which is very positive.

Just thought I would let you know Wayne passed his HSC with flying colours and is off to university! THANK YOU! Your tutors did a FANTASTIC job! =)

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Werribee Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like MacKillop Catholic Regional College - St Mary's Campus.
