Giving them encouragement and prompting them to keep trying. Emphasizing repetition is very important. It builds a 'keep trying' attitude in the students that will carry them through school and further on in their lives. I am patient with students. I make an effort to be calm, and try different ways of explaining concepts/ideas/techniques so that…

Being a chemistry tutor brings me valuable lessons, one of which is to ensure the students understand the concepts through problems. It was quite challenging at first because some problems were quite tricky and the students could give up. But it was extremely important to make them believe that they can solve it by step-by-step instruction. It is…

A student will need a chemistry tutor because he/she couldn't understand what was being taught in class. The best thing for a tutor to do is focus on the parts that the student failed to understand and strengthen their understanding in those areas. Inside West HindmarshTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ava focused on calculating mean, median, and mode for data sets and practiced two-step word problems involving fractions and percentages.

For Year 8, Ethan worked through algebraic expansion and simplification of brackets, as well as solving equations by rearranging terms to isolate x.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Priya completed trigonometry homework using sine, cosine, and tangent ratios to find unknown side lengths in right-angled triangles, applying these skills to real-world worded problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student frequently left set homework incomplete, particularly on decimals and negative numbers, which limited progress when new concepts were introduced in lessons.

"He needed reminders to go back over past mistakes and work out why the answer is what it is," a tutor observed after repeated revision sessions.

In Year 11 mathematics, another student's working became difficult to follow—steps for breaking down complex 3D shapes or expanding brackets were often omitted or only partly shown. This meant errors (such as missing a squared term) weren't spotted until much later, causing frustration during test preparation.

Recent Achievements

One West Hindmarsh tutor noted a Year 11 student who, after initially hesitating to tackle worded algebra problems independently, now translates them into equations on her own and completes homework with only minimal help.

In a recent session with a Year 8 student, the tutor observed that she has started verbalising each problem-solving step aloud—an encouraging shift from her earlier quiet guesswork—which led to her correctly calculating cylindrical surface area without prompts.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who once needed guidance for every operation is now breaking down multi-step questions by herself and choosing the correct operations without assistance.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very happy with Sean, the kids have responded very well to him and even look forward to the sessions!

Abed is passionate about maths, and is very keen to teach his student, and ensure they are succeeding. He is an asset to Ezymaths.

Things are going really well. Kai enjoys Noah's tutoring. On his last math's assessment he received 80% in comparison to the one before which was 55%. I met with his math's school teacher and she has provided upcoming topics for Noah to discuss with Kai as well as 2 practice tests. Her feedback was positive too and constructive. If we stay on this path, I'm confident that it will prepare him well for the upcoming HSC.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hindmarsh Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Joseph's School.
