Physics Tutor
I believe a tutor's job is to leave their student not with all the answers but with a clear understanding of the content. The best thing that a tutor can do is to improve a student's ability to learn and study independently, and this includes giving them an enthusiasm for the topic. However, a tutor is still a support and guide on subject material…

Both Jeremiah and Sui seem very happy with Arman.

Inside West WodongaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Luka worked through simplifying linear and polynomial equations and practiced exponent rules, using textbook problems to reinforce understanding.

Year 9 student Ella focused on preparing for an upcoming maths test by reviewing algebraic concepts, including decimals, percentages, and fractions through both homework tasks and online practice.

For primary, Year 5 student Maya revised perimeter and area of irregular shapes (squares and rectangles) and spent time improving recall of the 6, 7, 8, and 9 times tables.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4 maths, one student forgot to do the multiplication and subtraction steps before dropping down the next number during long division, which meant their working was incomplete and harder for teachers to follow.

In Year 12 General Maths, Sienna was advised to "revise principles and applications of significant figures and square roots," but limited revision mostly to familiar examples, so struggled when new question types appeared.

A Year 10 student occasionally seemed disengaged in class; as a tutor observed, "I have to ensure Darcy is well engaged so he understands concepts," or important feedback might be missed mid-lesson.

Recent Achievements

One West Wodonga tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to quietly muddle through algebra mistakes now openly asks about where he went wrong and works with the tutor to understand corrections—a big shift from earlier sessions.

In another case, a senior student tackled break-even analysis and cost functions: by the end of the session, she could confidently use matrix recursion relations to solve complex problems that had previously seemed overwhelming.

Meanwhile, in primary maths, Maya was eager enough about learning her timetables that she did extra practice in her Naplan book at home without being prompted.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Olivia is doing GREAT! She gets on well with Alex and he is very good at making it fun and keeping it interesting. (she is easily distracted so this isn't easy!)

Matthew is “very happy with Kirsten”. That is the best feedback a child can give. Kirsten has a big challenge to get Matthew up to speed. Kirsten is setting him homework and has increased the time that she is spending with Matthew as he needs to put in extra study with exams pending. We can't ask for more than that from a tutor than to be flexible and mindful of Matthews schedule and timelines. Overall Matthews school results are improving across all learning areas.

I am more than happy with Julie, she is just brilliant in every way. In terms of preparation and input I could not ask for more. Just great, and highly recommend Julie as a great advocate for your brand.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hyphen Wodonga Library Gallery—or at your child's school (with permission), like Victory Lutheran College.
