The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to actively listen regarding what the student needs help with. This will ensure the student will get the most of his/her session. Being able to actively listening to student feedback will be vital to becoming a successful tutor. Being able to adapt to each individuals learning style as no…
Being empathetic and compassionate is the most crucial thing a tutor can do for a student. Every youngster learns at a different pace. A tutor must adjust to that speed by offering personalised learning. Additionally, a tutor can create a collaborative learning environment for the student that will enable them to build on their strengths, view…
A tutor, morally, can pave a path to right mindset for a student and impart knowledge not just of textbooks but moral education too . Tutors can also play a role of godparent for many students in life via providing mature guidance . Last but not the least, tutors are like the water to seeds, thus being significant for a child's nourishment. …
I believe that creating open communication is a very important part of teaching. I consider the best way to connect with students is to create a positive learning environment and encourage interaction and discussion. A tutor also needs to be a role model for students so it is essential that they act responsibly and are polite and courteous to them…
As said earlier, a tutor is not someone with a "rat-race" kind of approach to learning with zero engaging feats. The most important thing is being keen on motivation. Since I plan teaching students from a primary to higher level each level would require motivation in a very different way. For e.g. engaging primary level students with a minor…
A tutor can make a student love the subject he/she hates. The most important thing for a tutor is to understand the student, his/her interests, aptitude, and what he/she is inclined towards. If you have a basic idea of the student mindset you can develop techniques to make them understand the subject in a way they don't find it hard. Gamification…
Helping students understand the importance of learning is the main key. Students need to learn the importance of an educational journey. A classroom of 20 plus students may not always give them the individual attention that is needed. a tutor can help bridge the gap for attention and contact that a classroom may not allow and thereby help students…
I see no student a failure, and I will take their failure as my own. The most quintessential thing any tutor can do is adapt to the student's way of thinking and guide them to success. When you help others, you grow in the process. There is no important thing a tutor can do for a student apart from working on themselves to aid the student better…
Tutoring involves group of aspects to be fulfilled to make it most efficient, which involves the following:
1.Establish open and clear communication channels, encouraging questions and addressing concerns promptly.
2.Cultivate a passion for learning by making the subject matter interesting and relevant to the student's life.
3.Offer…
The biggest part of tutoring is adjusting to the various communication styles of each student, when students rely on visuals to understand a topic, the tutor needs to present graphs or sketches to exemplify formulas in a more visual manner when students prefer to learn using examples the topic needs to be translated into more tangible manners.…
Patience - Doing questions and concepts at their pace and going over them multiple times is vital. I can adapt quickly to the student and help them understand concepts at their…
The most importing thing, in my opinion, is ensuring the student is both adept in the subject and confident, so that they can believe in their ability to perform. I am very good at seeing the steps needed for the students to understand a concept, and moving as fast or as slow as they require to achieve their desired level of…
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for any student is to make them believe in their own capability. Secondly, make them value education and enjoy the process. I break concepts down into small bits and give relevant examples. I focus on concept understanding first and then practice. I have always been one of the top students in school…
I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build the student’s confidence, make them feel supported, and help them understand the subject in a way that makes sense to them. It's not just about getting the right answer it's about making the student feel like they can get there on their own. A good tutor listens, stays patient, and…
Rather than making the subject more troublesome for the student, a tutor must help them realize how easily the same could be studied using small tips and making it more enjoyable.
Helping out with their doubts, providing sufficient extra materials, and small tips to remember among others, are important things that a tutor could help with.…
I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to build the student’s confidence, foster a genuine understanding of the subject, and create a supportive environment for learning. It’s not just about helping them get the right answers, but about teaching them how to think critically and approach problems independently. A good tutor also…
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to develop their ability to learn and think independently. One of my favourite quotes is "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." Teaching students how to learn not only helps them to do well in their exams, but…
Being patient and having empathy is important in tutoring. This way, the tutor is able to understand what the student is feeling, and understand what is the best way to learn for them. I think my strength in tutoring is the sense of empathy that i am able to show. I believe that the tutor needs to be able to understand the student’s best…
1 - Be compassionate and empathic while creating a conducive and fearless classroom environment so that the students can clarify their doubts fearlessly.
2 - One of the most important things a tutor can do is recognize and respect that each student learn and retain information in his own unique way. Thus he needs to tailor his approach to each…
In primary, tutoring often targets core arithmetic—addition, subtraction, times tables, fractions, and building number sense—while also pushing for deeper comprehension, not just rote rules. High school sessions shift to algebraic thinking, graphing, interpreting questions, and developing strong exam strategies. There’s a big emphasis on breaking down word problems, revisiting tricky homework, and test prep for NAPLAN or semester exams, always tailored to what each student finds hardest right now.
Recent Challenges
Some primary students rush through comprehension or maths tasks without fully reading instructions, leading to incomplete or off-target answers. In high school, it’s common for students to have scattered or unclear working, which makes multi-step problems harder to check and fix. Other frequent hurdles include forgetting materials, leaving homework unfinished, or spending revision time catching up on missed basics instead of moving forward—all of which can hold back progress and lead to confusion.
Recent Achievements
Tutors are noticing students becoming more proactive during lessons—regularly checking their own work, spotting errors, and making corrections without being asked. There’s a clear shift toward students verbalising their steps in maths and explaining their reasoning aloud, rather than rushing through problems. Tutors also report that learners are reviewing their test results with more care and taking the initiative to improve, showing greater confidence and ownership of their progress.
What they say about our tutoring
Holly has stated that Jennifer her tutor is helping her with her Maths. She is certainly in a better frame of mind with Jennifer than when either myself or my husband had tried to help in the past. Early days yet but looking positive.
We are very happy with Kirill. In a short space of time he seems to have developed a good relationship with our sons. They feel comfortable asking for assistance in understanding concepts etc. I feel that Kirill is a good match and a great role model for them!!! It doesn't hurt that he is from NZ (like me); sporty (like my boys) and at Melbourne Uni doing engineering , which is something that I think may interest Mason!
I just wanted to say thank you, Ruhail is a very pleasant young man, and show a very professional manor approach with Tutoring Stephanie.
Stephanie is also impressed and when I have questioned her how she is finding Ruhail and the Tutoring, her comments were all pleasant.
She said Ruhail is very nice and explains maths in more simple terms, making her understand Maths easier.
She compares Ruhail to the teacher at school and can't understand why she is left dumb-founded in the classroom yet her Tuition makes much more sense and understands the topic/task clearer.
So far we are both impressed with Ruhail and his tutoring.
