The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to remember their position when they were at their student's age, the difficulties they faced while learning and sharing their experiences with passion to their students so they do not have to face such difficulties while learning. My strengths which may be beneficial as a tutor are…

English Tutor One Mile, QLD
The most important thing is approaching the task not simply as a series of questions to be answered, but instead as a dive into the nature of what is being learned and its applications to the world, which fosters a much greater depth of understanding and encourages curiosity above all else. I do not have a standard technique for learning that…

Providing the right resources and support both academically and personally. Although possessing good academic knowledge is great, success comes from having good support and balance in every aspect of life. That is why I believe supporting students in a holistic manner is an important trait of a tutor. I am patient and understanding. I struggled in…

Inside WillowbankTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Luke practiced long division with one and two decimals and tackled word problems, using trial and error for multiple-choice questions as well as working through simultaneous equations.

In Year 9, Emma focused on solving quadratic equations using the quadratic formula and plotted cubic functions alongside work on linear functions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Jake reviewed graphing of linear equations—finding the equation of a line from a graph—and explored if two linear lines are parallel by comparing their gradients.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10, one student's layout issues made probability tree diagrams hard to follow—"layout still needs working as this sometimes compromises his communication of ideas."

A Year 9 student repeatedly left assignment materials at school, which meant sections were missing during review.

In Year 11, a student's tendency not to re-read answers led to overlooked errors in algebraic working.

For a Year 8 student, forgetting to record notes after each lesson resulted in gaps when revising key concepts for assessment week.

These moments left important details unrevised or feedback unaddressed.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Willowbank recently noticed some great shifts in students' learning habits and independence. Now prepares questions before sessions and completes homework on her own without reminders—a big change for one previously hesitant Year 9 student.

In Year 11, Emily has started double-checking her work during assessments—something she avoided last term—which helped her spot and fix mistakes in a recent assignment draft.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student has begun thinking out loud when working through tricky graphing problems rather than quietly guessing, showing much more willingness to tackle challenges head-on.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Gracie, she has been very accommodating and has had the patience to work with my son. Even though I have not met her in person, she seems to be very dedicated.

Skye's mum has mentioned she is really happy with Christine, so please pass this on to Christine.

I am really happy with the tutoring Mitchell has been receiving from Jack Grant. Mitch seems to respond well to Jack and they seem to communicate really well. Mitch had a mock Maths Methods exam last week and whilst his mark was not exactly where we would like it to be, Mitch did say he was confident in answering a couple of questions that Jack had gone through with him. Jack is a really good tutor for Mitch and he relates well. He is professional and friendly and certainly knows his stuff! I would fully recommend him to anyone needing some extra help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ipswich Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Deebing Heights State School.
