A tutor must treat each student as unique and motivate them to learn in a manner that they are most likely to succeed in. A tutoring lesson should give a student the confidence to apply a concept based on their understanding of it. -Patience -Prior experience -Communication skills -Willingness to learn -Fluency in…

A tutor has to be patient and welcoming for their students. The reason these students come for tutoring is because they face difficulty keeping up with school. So they should be given the space to understand at their own pace, in their own method and a teacher needs to recognize that. We need to recognize the method which we choose to teach a…

I believe that getting high grades in school is not the most important goal for my student (although this is something we work towards), but rather what is most important for me as a tutor is to see them learn, progress and improve each time. I want to teach them the value of hard work while building up their confidence and motivation to tackle…

In my opinion, a tutor must be able to empathize with the student and create a safe space for them. Its important to be constructive and patient especially with the ones that take time to grasp topics. One must keep instructions clear and always strive to empower the child by focusing on their strengths. Engage them instead of lecturing…

I realize tutoring is not just about being a private teacher who delivers knowledge outside of school. It is also about being a mentor, a facilitator, a friend who can help learners grow and develop good habits in order to have the best performance in learning. Besides, the tutor is the one who understand the student' strengths and weaknesses in…

Tutors are expected to bolster student grades however this is not their true purpose, A tutor should help to develop students to not only achieve greater marks but also to have a greater understanding of the field they are being tutored in. This should extend beyond the tutoring time as the student develops the skills required to support…

The most important thing that I believe that a tutor can do for a student is to make them self-confident and self-reliant and encourage them to open up their minds start thinking on their own rather than just mugging up the bookish knowledge. A tutor should be strict about discipline but at the same time friendly and lenient understanding students problem. He should be available on phone all the time for his students during the exam period. Also, the tutor has to get some real-life problems and repeat the same basic concepts repeatedly so that the student memorises it for a long time.…

First and foremost, for the student to improve his/her results in school. And beyond that, to get them to enjoy what they're doing (at least somewhat) - and push them into thinking creatively and originally. Also important, is to encourage and emphasize how what they're learning, will be relevant and useful in their day-to-day lives. I feel that…

Inside Windsor GardensTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Ashton worked on DNA structure, replication, and mitosis in preparation for a biology test.

For Year 10, Emily focused on graphing quadratics and completed worksheets covering arithmetic skills alongside quadratic factorisation practice.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Tom revised expanding brackets and tackled problems involving factorising algebraic expressions, using step-by-step examples to reinforce understanding.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 algebra, skipping steps when expanding or factoring quadratics led to confusion—"as the tutor noted, she left out working, which made sign errors harder to spot."

In Year 8 English essay writing, a student arrived without their novel, so evidence for analysis had to be guessed instead of quoted.

For a Year 4 learner, incomplete homework on basic sentence construction and phonics meant foundational spelling and reading skills lagged behind.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 biology student depended heavily on PowerPoint slides rather than using flashcards for active recall; this left key terms unretained during revision sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Windsor Gardens tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to avoid essay planning now drawing clear links between ideas and providing much more detailed evidence in their SACE English assignments.

In maths, a Year 8 learner who previously struggled with converting denominators started applying the correct rules independently after practising methods for double negatives—showing genuine improvement in both understanding and self-reliance.

Meanwhile, a younger student has begun using visual story maps to plan imaginative narratives and is now referring back to her own drawings when writing conclusions, something she hadn't tried before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thanks for your email.  Our decision to discontinue the tutoring was not due to any dissatisfaction - quite the opposite.  My daughter only had a few sessions with her tutor, and in that time gained a huge amount of confidence in her abilities.  The tutor was able to reassure her that she wasn't as bad at maths as she believed.  This new-found confidence enabled my daughter to discuss openly with her teacher the difficulties she was having, and get some extra help at school.  Since then, she has performed markedly better in her assignments and tests. Natasha is an excellent tutor and I would highly recommend your company to anyone experiencing difficulty with Maths. Thanks for the follow up and for all your help.

Douglas was great & Liam responded well with him - But the school have always had in house tutoring that Liam was uncomfortable attending - But with Douglas's input he now feels confident to go and take that path. As I pay School fees this makes more sense than another outlay on top.  He is making great progress and all is well.

Just wanted to let you know that Mark seems like a good match for Nik. He really likes him and had a really successful first session. Thanks for your support and assistance in finding him!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greenacres Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Avenues College.
