I feel that more important than knowing how to answer questions, is having the confidence and persistence to tackle problems that arise. The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to teach them how to learn for themselves and tackle problems for themselves. This will help them gain the confidence to excel. I am very patient…

I believe a physics tutor should have a better understanding of student's perspectives. To elaborate, every student has a different perspective, and some will go in a very different direction tutor should understand the student's perspective before judging or correcting students. The tutor should ask questions and should bring up real-life…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for their student is to continuously encourage regardless of the results they get. Thus, as a tutor I think you have a responsibility to also support your students…

Inside WollertTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Jugnu worked on understanding High Court interpretation and statutory interpretation in legal studies, reviewing major parts of Unit 4 content.

A Year 11 student focused on the doctrine of precedent and practiced structuring answers for exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Garry explored decimal operations—conversion, ordering, rounding—and reviewed place value concepts using practical examples.

Recent Challenges

Not breaking down exam-style questions led to missed marks for a Year 12 student; the tutor noted: "Needs improvement with answering exam-style questions."

In Year 11, anxiety about Mechanics topics caused the focus to shift toward quickly finishing homework instead of building understanding—leaving concepts shaky for tests.

For a Year 8 English essay, skipped proofreading meant grammar and paragraphing issues slipped through.

In Year 5 maths, rushing mental calculations caused avoidable errors and gaps in times tables recall. The result was frustration during timed assessments when familiar mistakes reappeared.

Recent Achievements

A Wollert tutor noticed a Year 12 student who used to struggle with interpreting exam questions now actively chooses the quickest method to solve problems and clearly explains her reasoning.

In a recent Year 9 English session, Garry—who previously hesitated to structure his essays—successfully planned out paragraphs and integrated stronger arguments without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who was once unsure about decimal place values independently wrote each number in the correct spot during practice, no reminders needed. At the end of that lesson, she confidently ordered several decimals on her own for the first time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

All is going very well with Eden's tutoring.  We are very happy and our only regret is that we didn't do this earlier. Eden has said she has understood maths more with Calvin than in all her years at school. We look forward to seeing Eden's confidence in maths grow steadily and am pleased she is comfortable with Calvin's patience to keep questioning him in areas she struggles with.

Yes everything has started off great. Lachie really likes Suzan which has made it much easier and seems to be looking forward to Sunday tutoring. Thanks you very much on the email, much appreciated.

We started yesterday and Dylan and Erin both seemed happy and got along quite nicely.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mernda Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Wollert Primary School.
