I believe it is important for a tutor to pass on good studying tips which will not only aid the student while they work with the tutor but for future endeavours in their education. I believe I am a very calm and welcoming person which would allow for students to feel relaxed around me. I also am capable of explaining a concept in a variety of ways…

I have had feedback from our daughters teachers and just her attitude alone has improved which means her confidence is increasing since Avdiy has been helping her out.

Inside WoodendTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Cale focused on Maths revision covering topics such as linear equations and indices, and also worked through English writing tasks like monologue planning and essay structure.

In Year 10, Emily tackled simultaneous equations and trigonometry using diagrams to reinforce her understanding, along with exam preparation techniques.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Jack reviewed compound interest calculations in class and practised graphing linear equations alongside critical thinking strategies for problem solving.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student lost a maths assignment due to not saving documents correctly, which directly impacted his grade—highlighting an ongoing need for better digital organization and backup routines.

In senior English, the same student's draft "lost direction" towards the end; as noted, "he tended to wander off in his thoughts," making it hard to keep arguments clear and focused.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student struggled with note-taking—she often left gaps or didn't summarize lessons, meaning important maths concepts like algebra and prime numbers were only half-remembered by revision time.

In both cases, these process issues led to missed marks and unnecessary frustration during assessments.

Recent Achievements

One Woodend tutor recently noticed a big shift in a Year 11 student who, after previously losing marks due to confusion between mathematical operations, has begun actively reviewing her notes and double-checking her answers—something she used to avoid.

Another high school student surprised their tutor by starting research on an English assignment before the lesson and coming prepared with their own ideas, showing new independence.

In a primary session, a younger student who struggled with adding decimals last term was able to solve several problems quickly and without prompting, even asking for extra questions at the end.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Morgan has responded very well already with Hazel.  She said her explanations of problems has made her maths much more easier. We are very happy with Hazel.

Despite a few minor glitches for our first few sessions with James arriving late (all sorted now I think), we've been VERY happy with the way he's working with Emily. She lacks confidence in maths, and I think James's gentle and patient approach is really helping.

Rishi is great guy and working well with our son James. We realise it is early days but James is already more confident with his approach towards maths. Thanks for checking in with us. It is appreciated.
