The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to listen and be receptive to their concerns. Being a student can be overwhelming, hence why I believe it is essential for tutors to structure their lessons in accordance with the students' needs. Ensuring that the methods of communication and teaching are appropriate for the student are…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student, outside of teaching concepts, is to support the student to arrive at the conclusion/answer themselves rather than leading them to it. A tutor must always support and encourage students to think for themselves. I always listen to my students and encourage them to think out loud. This way I can…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is definitely making them feel comfortable learning and learn in a fun and rewarding way. No matter the student, if they do not WANT to learn it is extremely unlikely that they will actually grasp the concept. Therefore, by turning learning into a fun experience the student's learning…

The most important thing that a tutor can impart on a student is self-confidence. There was a time in my life when I was not an excellent student and needed the help of tutors. Things changed when I started believing in myself. I believe that students who receive encouragement will perform well and will most likely have successful careers. My…

Make the subject interesting as much as possible so that the students actually understand and love what they are studying, instead of just memorizing the syllabus to pass exams. Also, I believe coming up with simple 'tips' in order to simplify a large content for students greatly helps students understand the subject better. As a uni student…

We all learn differently, in different ways, and at different times. A student may be a visual, auditory or movement learner. Some are a combination of all three types of learning styles. It is my job as an educator to determine how each of my students learn best, and to teach them strategies that they can use to help them achieve their full…

I believe, as a tutor it is our duty to support the students and encourage them through their learning journey. Complimenting a work well done and correcting the mistakes are such examples. Although it may not seem significant it is quite the opposite as it builds the self esteem of a student and gives them confidence to learn the subject. A tutor…

A good tutor should be able to motivate the student and kindle the interest in the subject. Once the child starts liking the subject, grades, results etc become the norm and the student will be able to learn effortlessly. I have produced excellent results at GCE and IGCSE examinations. A tutor must not only teach children the subject, but also must prepare them to handle real world situations when it comes to applying what they have learnt in class. We as tutors must give them some practice of those types of situations. I am very friendly with kids, and I want them to be open and always let me know if they understand or not, and…

I personally prefer and encourage others to do the same that while teaching the student, try to also teach them the way to find the solution of the problem, so next time, not only can they do it on their own, but help others as well. Local Reviews

It was extremely easy to get started with EzyMath. We had been waiting months for a school tutor to become available, but when we couldn't wait any longer we contacted EzyMath. The tutor we have been given is very respectful and has already within a few weeks gained the trust of our son. We are already starting to see his confidence return and he is smiling again.

Inside Wyndham ValeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Aanya focused on identifying different types of angles within geometric shapes and practiced working with supplementary and complementary angles.

For Year 10, Riya worked through solving quadratic equations by both factorisation and completing the square, then applied these skills to form and solve equations from worded problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Aryan concentrated on graphing piecewise linear functions and used function notation to solve practical application questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often relied on repeating familiar question types, avoiding newer problem formats in algebra; as one tutor noted, "concepts already taught are having to be repeated from the beginning for each new problem," which slowed progress and reduced exposure to different solution strategies.

In a Year 7 session, incomplete practice with forming equations from word problems meant steps had to be re-explained, disrupting momentum.

For VCE Maths (Year 12), insufficient revision of earlier units led to delays during sessions, as past concepts weren't confidently recalled when tackling advanced differentiation tasks. Time was spent revisiting basics instead of consolidating higher-level skills.

Recent Achievements

A Wyndham Vale tutor recently noticed a big shift in Braith, a Year 10 student who used to take several steps to solve equations but now works most out mentally and has started finishing his weekly syllabus ahead of schedule.

Anushka, also in high school, previously hesitated when faced with graphing tasks; last session, she confidently sketched transformed graphs without needing prompts.

In the primary years, Alice—who struggled with identifying geometric shapes—now quickly names them and applies parallel line theorems smoothly. During her last lesson, she solved every angles question independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manor Lakes Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Iramoo Primary School.
