The most important things a tutor can do are to foster a sense of curiosity, build the student’s confidence, and provide them with strategies to become independent learners. A tutor should also create a safe space for students to ask questions and make mistakes, as this is essential for growth and learning. My strengths as a tutor include…

Positive reinforcement, I know from personal experience especially undertaking maths methods in year 12 that sometimes you just feel like your never going to understand anything and a little positivity goes along way and contributes to that “break through†moment of understanding I think I explain things quiet clearly and coherently aswell…

To really connect with a child, to be able to provide safe space for them to admit what they need help with and then actually be able to give that help and boost their confidence is something very different and special. I have had some informal tutoring experience. Being patient with children, providing a fun and supportive learning environment is…

One most important thing is to foster independent thinking. Alongside motivation and strengthening their weakness, as long as a student gains the potential and maturity to problem solve by themselves, they can achieve limitless opportunities. As a tutor, my ultimate goal would be to make the student capable of relying on their own knowledge in…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to build their confidence. Many students may struggle not because they lack the ability but because they doubt themselves. Encouraging them and celebrating their achievements can help them believe in their skills. My strengths are that I am patient and I am willing to go the extra…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be 100% attentive to both their wants and needs. A tutor's role is equivalent, if not, equal to a normal teacher's. Every student under their guidance relies on them for help in how to succeed not just as a student, but as a person with a mind constantly growing every day. I believe it is…

At Kumon, It taught me the most important thing to do for a student as a tutor is slowly, and patiently working with kids, especially when they have no clue on how to do the concepts, and focuses on the areas that they are struggling on at school to help them improve and stay ahead. I believe my strengths as a tutor are patience as when students…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen, as well as be patient. It is essential that a tutor takes the time to listen to a students needs, and how they are feeling about certain topics. Patience is also very important, because all individuals learn at different levels, and it is essential to remember that. I…

A good tutor should be able to extend past simply explaining things; they should be able to tweak their approach to match the unique learning abilities of each student. One should not just regurgitate information, but rather make break it up into pieces that are digestible by each person. Above all, I think a hood tutor pushes a student to do…

The most important thing I consider as a tutor is to create a bond with the student and show the student that there is no one way to do things. Without forcing one-way learning the student can benefit from this and explore their abilities and their way of learning, to help them with their education process to benefit them in their tests, exams,…

Local Reviews

It was extremely easy to get started with EzyMath. We had been waiting months for a school tutor to become available, but when we couldn't wait any longer we contacted EzyMath. The tutor we have been given is very respectful and has already within a few weeks gained the trust of our son. We are already starting to see his confidence return and he is smiling again.

Inside Wyndham ValeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Aanya focused on identifying different types of angles within geometric shapes and practiced working with supplementary and complementary angles.

For Year 10, Riya worked through solving quadratic equations by both factorisation and completing the square, then applied these skills to form and solve equations from worded problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Aryan concentrated on graphing piecewise linear functions and used function notation to solve practical application questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often relied on repeating familiar question types, avoiding newer problem formats in algebra; as one tutor noted, "concepts already taught are having to be repeated from the beginning for each new problem," which slowed progress and reduced exposure to different solution strategies.

In a Year 7 session, incomplete practice with forming equations from word problems meant steps had to be re-explained, disrupting momentum.

For VCE Maths (Year 12), insufficient revision of earlier units led to delays during sessions, as past concepts weren't confidently recalled when tackling advanced differentiation tasks. Time was spent revisiting basics instead of consolidating higher-level skills.

Recent Achievements

A Wyndham Vale tutor recently noticed a big shift in Braith, a Year 10 student who used to take several steps to solve equations but now works most out mentally and has started finishing his weekly syllabus ahead of schedule.

Anushka, also in high school, previously hesitated when faced with graphing tasks; last session, she confidently sketched transformed graphs without needing prompts.

In the primary years, Alice—who struggled with identifying geometric shapes—now quickly names them and applies parallel line theorems smoothly. During her last lesson, she solved every angles question independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manor Lakes Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Iramoo Primary School.
