Ancient History Tutor Springwood, NSW
I believe the most important role a tutor plays is to establish a friendly relationship with the student. This makes learning more engaging and achievable. My previous tutoring experience has shown me that students learn best when they are engaged more personally. For example, relating concepts to the hobbies of a student allows them to perceive…

Inside Yellow RockTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Jack focused on measurement by finding perimeter and area, then practised converting units for volume.

In Year 8, Alexia worked through simplifying algebraic equations and multiplying/dividing them using worksheets to prepare for an upcoming test.

Meanwhile, a Year 10 student tackled financial maths by calculating tax and Medicare levy as well as working out taxable income and tax refunds directly from exam-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths, one student repeatedly avoided writing full working for financial maths problems—when asked about a tricky tax calculation, she said, "I just tried to remember the answer," which led to confusion with taxable income and Medicare levy steps.

A Year 9 student often revised only familiar algebra topics, neglecting indices and sign conventions; this caused mistakes to resurface in classwork.

In Year 7, revision notes were left incomplete after lessons on perimeter and area of composite shapes, making it difficult to connect new formulae later. The result: time spent relearning basics instead of building new skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Yellow Rock recently noticed Isabelle, a high school student, making a real shift in her approach to exam prep—she now works through difficult problems independently, whereas she previously hesitated and needed step-by-step guidance.

In another session, Tariq finally began calculating unknown sides unprompted using Pythagoras' Theorem, marking a big leap from earlier sessions where he relied heavily on hints.

Meanwhile, Lillian in primary school has started spelling all her weekly words correctly for the first time this term and even explained her science project with newfound enthusiasm.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Wen is fantastic! Jack is very happy with the tutoring so we would like to continue with her.

Dhreeti tutor has been great so far and my daughter is really comfortable with her.

Sharren is wonderful. They have formed an instant connection, and Bree is already feeling more confident and did an open book maths test yesterday without looking at the book hardly at all. Sharren is already a part of the house when i walk through the door and she is already in my opinion, the best tutor for Bree

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Blue Mountains Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Winmalee High School.
