The most important thing is to make sure the student achieves or exceeds the intended academic goals. If a student achieves his/her academic goals because of me, I can proudly say that I am a successful tutor. In my opinion the most important thing is to teach your students HOW to learn. This means to teach them how to approach a new topic and break it into smaller steps, and how to use a study technique that work best for them. As we have all heard: give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. :)…

I believe the most important thing as a tutor is to be positive and encourage students at all times. Local Reviews

Clancy is enjoying it and was actually doing some maths homework by himself tonight (that is a big step forward!), we’d like to continue with Megan please, she has a very nice manner and way of working through things.
Rebecca, Yeronga

Inside YerongaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ella worked on multiplication fluency (3x, 4x, and 6x tables) through timed races and Mathletics activities, and tackled money concepts by solving problems involving coins, notes, and everyday transactions.

In Year 8, Alex focused on operations with negative integers—practising addition, subtraction, multiplication and division—and identified coefficients while simplifying algebraic expressions using practice questions from school.

For Year 10, Lucy addressed trigonometry fundamentals alongside Pythagoras' theorem applications in triangles, working through problem sets to strengthen understanding of both topics.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly arrived without her school book or resources, making it difficult to review classwork and target gaps—one tutor observed, "she didn't bring her workbook again, so I couldn't check what she's learning." This lack of preparation led to confusion during assignments and missed opportunities for feedback.

In Year 4 maths, a student often rushed through times tables, resulting in messy working and frequent mistakes; the urge to finish quickly made it harder for her to spot errors.

When a Year 8 learner scored poorly on a practice test, she delayed sharing this and declined extra support—leaving critical issues unaddressed as her exam approached.

Recent Achievements

One Yeronga tutor noticed a Year 9 student who used to avoid asking for help now actively seeking clarification when stuck, especially in geometry tasks—she even started preparing questions ahead of time.

A high schooler who'd struggled with algebraic equations began talking through her process aloud and writing out each step, making fewer errors as she worked.

Meanwhile, one of the younger students has shifted from guessing at spelling to carefully sounding out new words and correcting herself, leading to more accurate writing.

Last session, she finished her times tables without needing prompts.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Working with Ezy Math Tutoring was great because all tutors are continuously supported in various ways. It is not only a teaching experience but also a learning experience. Tutors gain skills through work, weekly training and materials online. The continuous communication between tutors, students, parents and Ezy Math Tutoring is very important and valuable. 19th July 2012

Throughout my employment I received many helpful pieces of information from Ezy Math Tutoring, which detailed clever teaching strategies and techniques to help my students achieve their best. Using lesson plans to organise and prepare for my lessons is something that I was encouraged to do by Ezy Math Tutoring, which I hadn't used with students previous to my time with this company. This was very helpful both for me to have a clearer idea of my goal for each lesson, and also for my students to better understand what our aims were each week. During my employment it was evident that Ezy Math Tutoring always sought the satisfaction and best for its students as well as its tutors. It was a pleasure to work with this company. 19th July 2012

The biggest accomplishment any math tutor can have (myself including) is seeing the student progress, knowing that they understand and have the confidence to complete any task/question without fear. The key skills I got from math tutoring is being able to effectively communicate in a mentor manner. This is an essential skill for progression in almost every career path, as most careers will require you to train a new colleague, manage a team, or oversee a project, etc. I would strongly recommend Ezy math tutoring to anyone, they are professionals who strive to achieve the goals each student has in progressing towards understanding mathematics. 20th July 2012

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Fairfield Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Yeronga State School.
