I consider the most important things a tutor can do for a student to be providing the student with the toolbox to be able to solve problems effectively in the chosen subject. In addition, a tutor can provide the student with confidence and belief in oneself, which helps the student academically, and in general. My strengths as a tutor include very…

I think it goes without saying that a tutor should help their student/s to understand concepts so that the student can improve on their grades. But I believe that tutoring goes so much further beyond that. A tutor should strive to truly engage the student in their learning. A good tutor will motivate and inspire the student so that they are…

As a tutor, rather than just explaining the content of a topic, I believe that it is more to understand the doubts a student may have. If the student does not bring up any doubts, the tutor must then slowly check their understanding of the topic bit by bit by prompting questions frequently. Another thing to keep in mind is to never give the answer…

To make a student truly care about learning the topic at hand. Once a student understands the value in what they are learning, their inherent motivation does more to help them than any tutor ever could. Pairing that with some patience and guidance, and the student will thrive. I am extremely patient, and prepared to take as much time as the…

Guide the student and not give them the answer straight away. Let them develop the critical thinking needed for each type of problem. This is especially important in programming. Think to pass the belief that the student can achieve the goal. It is just the matter of working hard and maybe trying different approach. And also not comparing yourself to other students, because everyone is unique. Building a caring relationship in my opinion is the most important thing a tutor can do for any student. I believe a tutor should be confident in his/her abilities and express enthusiasm in teaching the student. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to promote confidence in a student. After a tutoring session, the goal should not be for a student to be able to complete their homework. Instead, the student should gain an understanding of the topic such that they can complete future coursework without the help of a tutor. If that…

Tutoring is not just about writing formulas on paper and solving equations. Tutoring is about connecting with the student, listening to them and understanding them. Only then a tutor can see what topics the students are struggling with and be able to help them. A tutor can go on and on and on for hours with a lot of knowledge base and high level…

Local Reviews

Rosie is tutoring my child in year 7 maths and has built up a great rapport with her. Through my observations I can see that Rosie has a strong understanding of maths and is able to explain ideas and concepts very easily. She has a lot of patience and always checks my daughters understanding and offers alternative explanations where needed. Rosie is always punctual, friendly and polite and I am very happy with the progress that has been made to date.

Inside ZetlandTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student William worked on correcting homework covering simple interest and surds, along with catching up missed class content.

For Year 9, revision with Ben focused on dividing and multiplying fractions as well as tackling negative and fractional indices in surds.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Xavier practised converting remainders into decimals, solved word problems, and labelled different types of triangles using diagrams to support understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student left several steps unwritten when tackling algebraic equations, as one tutor noted: "he tried to do everything in his head instead of writing it down." This led to confusion over signs and made errors harder to spot.

In Year 11, incomplete homework meant that basic perfect square practice was missed, so extra time had to be spent revisiting foundational rules rather than progressing.

Meanwhile, a primary student working on division often forgot her materials at home, causing delays while searching for worksheets and slowing the start of each session.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Zetland noted that William, a Year 10 student, has started attempting every maths question instead of skipping the tough ones—a real shift from earlier sessions when he'd often give up if stuck.

In Year 11, after struggling with surd problems last term, he was able to recall the steps and solve similar questions independently this week, using his own notes for support.

Meanwhile, Elliott (Year 5) used to stay quiet during lessons but now openly talks through his reasoning on each English question and even asks for extra examples when something feels tricky. Last session, he wrote down all his ideas without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and Mohammed once again for everything. The standard of tutoring was outstanding and most of all Elise gained from it proving so with her results. Mohammed was a pleasure to have in our home being the polite gentleman he is. Such a credit to you and your company. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ezy Math Tutoring to anyone.

Thought I would drop you an email to let you know Aaron took his first lesson with the boys last night and everything seemed to go very well.  Brook and Lewis both commented on how the learning methods given were helpful and will hopefully put these in place. Thank you and hopefully this will be a turning point in the boys attitude towards this subject.

Mo was a fantastic tutor for my son,Joe.  She was patient and adjusted her her teaching pace according to Joe's needs in the various areas that needed work.  Mo explained everything carefully and made sure Joe fully understood everything without making him feel uncomfortable. Joe and I are so grateful for her help and I will be sure to call on her again if the need arises.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Green Square Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Green Square Public School.
