I believe the most important thing a teacher can do for a student is to relate subject topics to real life examples with videos and animations making it easy for them to understand. If a teacher could teach subjects and make them interesting as if someone becomes eager in knowing what's going to happen in the next chapter, I believe that would be…

Also, bringing in their background knowledge, experiences and considering their interest while teaching them would be of utmost importance. I easily build rapport with children and understand…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to provide them with proficient resources, combined with encouragement and motivational tools to help them succeed in their academics. It is never a right way to overlook individual ability of students according to their grades. Communication including listening, talking or even debating help educators and…

Most likely is to improve the student study skills. I want my student to or create a student that no longer requires help and retain those executive study skills that I can teach my student. I want my student to learn about organization skills, task initiation, time management and focus. Adaptability. We all know that not all students are the…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make them care and/or be excited about the subject being taught. An element of fun does wonders for learning. BEing able to understand where the student is coming from and showing empathy. Also, to demonstrate effective communication skills to explain certain things clearly for the student to understand you. So basically it works for both ways, the student and the teacher both need to be able to understand each other. My strenghts as a tutor would be that…

The most important things a tutor can do are to build the student’s confidence, foster a positive learning environment, and encourage independent thinking. A tutor provides structured 1 on 1 learning to go over curriculum that they might need help understanding, revising on, and support with. Furthermore, Tutors aid in developing better study practices through demonstration and giving their client the experience that can transition into improved study habits. Strengths: 1. Commitment is important for this job. As a student, I have seen teachers who are not familiar with their skills and their students' way of learning, resulting in them feeling disengaged with their subject. As a tutor we need to be able to track the performance of students, familiarise ourselves with their strengths and weaknesses to help them…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide them a pillar of support especially in times that they are confused and stressed. If a tutor isn’t able to actively aid a student in their studies and providing them reassurance that their hard-work will eventually pay off, I feel like as a tutor, you’ve failed your part.…

I consider encouragement, feedback and trust to be an important part of tutoring. The teacher should support the learner to become more confident in their own academic capabilities, giving them timely and accurate feedback. Also, it is just as important to build positive relationships with your students so they can come to you with their problems…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give the student the confidence in his own abilities. For when a student believes in himself, he can do great things, he'll know that he is smart and capable. And that is something that I would want people to develop. As I believe that everyone of us is capable in achieving whatever goals…

The most important thing in teaching is to make the student believe that they will surpass any goals they set their minds into. Inside AlbionTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Alex explored motion on an inclined plane by breaking down gravity into components and calculated net force, also examining the effects of drag force and tension direction in physics problems.

For Year 10, Jamie completed a practice maths exam focused on algebraic manipulation and worked through challenging linear graphs using step-by-step solutions.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Ben revised perimeter for circular shapes and practiced addition and subtraction using algorithms to improve speed and accuracy.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student working through algebra repeatedly hesitated to write out steps, instead relying on mental calculation; as one tutor noted, "she skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors."

In VCE Maths Methods, a Year 11 student leaned heavily on memorizing formulas but struggled when asked to apply them or use the CAS calculator efficiently.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student often left homework incomplete and avoided tricky fraction questions—resulting in missed opportunities for feedback and growth.

During exam prep, a Year 9 learner second-guessed answers and needed reassurance before moving forward. This led to lost time retracing old ground rather than building new skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Albion noticed a Year 12 student who once needed to write out every circular function step now solving advanced trigonometry problems mentally and much faster than before.

Another high schooler recently started asking questions when stuck, rather than sitting quietly—last session, she worked through several challenging factorisation tasks using new strategies without prompting.

In a younger class, one student who used to rush maths problems has begun double-checking answers after learning from past mistakes; this time, he caught and corrected his own error on the number line activity before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brimbank Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like Albion Primary School.
