Maths Tutor Buttaba, NSW
I think fostering curiosity and confidence are the most important things a maths tutor can do for a student. Technical knowledge is obviously extremely important, however, I think building solid study foundations is something a student will carry with them for the rest of their lives. As a current university student, I understand the frustration…

Maths Tutor Swansea, NSW
The most important thing is bringing the the learning down to the students level. I believe by doing this not only makes learning relatable and accessible, but also make the whole experience fun and enjoyable. My strengths include being able to listen to what the student says. If they are having difficult over a particular concept, then I would go…

Maths Tutor Dora Creek, NSW
To make learning fun and easy and to set the student up with a strong foundation so they can be successful in their further studies and future. I am very patient and understanding of where the student is at with their knowledge and how to build them up to where they need to be in knowledge or even past that to get them ahead of the crowd. I am…

Maths Tutor Dora Creek, NSW
The most important thing for a maths tutor is to be able to make the student want to learn the material on their own. If you instill a passion for mathematics within the student, it will cause them to grow on their own. Generally, I am pretty good at determining where the gap in the students understand lies, whether it's in the foundations of what…

Maths Tutor Valentine, NSW
I think it is important to create a casual, comfortable learning space for students where they feel comfortable talking to me as another student rather than a teacher. I feel this benefits them by not feeling that they are in a classroom, but rather simply discussing topics of difficulty with a colleague or mentor, ultimately increasing enthusiasm…

Maths Tutor Belmont North, NSW
To help them find and understand the answers themselves, opposed to just being told answers, or given formulas without proper explanation. This helps them not only understand there answers but also question answers they believe to be incorrect. I have good communication skills and I'm very patient. I also feel that my enjoyment for these subjects…

Shrimoyee has been an exceptional tutor for my son. Over the past year of working with her, my son has made significant progress in Math and is now consistently performing at the top of his class. Shrimoyee's teaching style is a perfect balance of patience and firmness, which has been instrumental in my son's academic success. I highly recommend her as a tutor.

Inside Arcadia ValeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Claudia worked on reading analogue and 24-hour time as well as learning the basics of fractions using shaded shapes for visual understanding.

Year 7 student Leonardo focused on multiplying large numbers with place value (such as 345 × 23) and practiced creative writing by brainstorming and drafting ideas.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Nina reviewed addition and subtraction of mixed numbers in Maths and explored how to identify the lowest common multiple for two numbers.

Recent Challenges

The failure to complete the set maths homework just sets her progress back, as time in session was lost revisiting old material rather than moving to new concepts.

In Year 9 English, another student struggled to organise ideas into written form, despite strong verbal skills; messy handwriting and difficulty structuring creative responses slowed progress.

For a Year 4 student, inconsistent focus during times tables practice meant knowledge faded between sessions.

These habits resulted in repeated revision instead of skill building or deeper learning, leaving students frustrated by slow advancement compared to their effort.

Recent Achievements

One Arcadia Vale tutor noticed a high school student who had previously hesitated to attempt more complex algebra problems now choosing to write out and solve linear equations independently, showing real initiative where she once waited for guidance.

Another recent session saw a Year 8 student tackle measurement problems with much less prompting—she identified her earlier errors on discount calculations and corrected them after extra practice.

Meanwhile, a younger student who struggled to read times on an analog clock is now confidently reading even tricky times like 6:47 aloud without assistance, finishing her worksheet with every answer correct.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Bethan, gets on really well with Sydney. Sydney is enjoying her lessons and she is already getting a better understanding of her maths.

Marcos seems great, Oliver is very happy. Difficult time with HSC on near horizon, so the assistance with exam prep and technique is helping immensely.

Hi Erica, Thank you for your email enquiring how Grace is settling in with Rose. In a word "great " they seem to have clicked straight away. Grace had a test following  the second tutoring session so she wanted to run a few things by Rose and the results of the test were fantastic. Not to take anything away from Feraz, as Grace's Maths had started to improve, but I think Grace is responding well to way Rose is explaining things and maybe because she is a girl too!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wangi Library Creative Hub, wanji wanji—or at your child's school (with permission), like Arcadia Vale Public School.
