English Tutor Louth Park, NSW
To be reliable and efficient. As an english tutor, I need to be able to make sure that the student knows how I am going to help them. I believe that practice creates better students. Repetition of hard topics is also a must. A tutor needs to create a healthy relationship with the student in order to ensure that they can help them improve. This…

English Tutor Maitland, NSW
The most important thing an english tutor can do for the student is to encourage them to not give up on any problem and allow them to feel comfortable with you. I build a rapport with my students to allow them to feel comfortable with me. This is important as students can sometimes feel embarrassed for not understanding something. But by being…

English Tutor Largs, NSW
Offer a different approach to the content apart from the one done in a formal school setting. There are many different learning styles and to identify which one suits the learner, making them aware of this and helping them to change the content into a way they understand ensures lifelong learning for the student. I have been tutoring different…

English Tutor Tarro, NSW
Some of the most important things a tutor can provide for a student in my opinion include; - Have patience - A fun attitude to help make the learning experience enjoyable and to further help understand the difficult concepts they may come across. - Willingness to sacrifice extra time if need be to ensure their student is completely satisfied…

English Tutor Rutherford, NSW
The most important thing is providing support. A lot of students that seek out tutoring tend to be stressed or upset about their grades and by teaching them a tutor is also supporting them. I'm very good at walking through things step by step and breaking down whatever I'm teaching in order to make it easier to understand. Another strength is that…

Inside AshtonfieldTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Tom worked on factorising and simplifying algebraic expressions, as well as exploring wages and financial liability in real-life contexts.

For Year 10, Emma focused on solving quadratic equations using both factorisation and the quadratic formula, alongside crafting an engaging introduction for a short story assessment.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Josh tackled negative indices and simplifying surds and indices, then practised converting large or small numbers into scientific notation for Chemistry applications.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4 maths, one student often guessed answers under time pressure instead of writing out working, especially with negative numbers—"she tends to guess the answer when there's a time limit," noted a tutor. This made it harder to identify calculation errors.

In Year 9 English, another student struggled to organise ideas for essays and skipped planning steps; without an outline, his arguments lacked clarity and structure.

A Year 11 student in Chemistry sometimes avoided writing balanced equations on paper, making it difficult for both him and the teacher to track progress or spot mistakes. As a result, feedback could not be fully actioned before assessments.

Recent Achievements

One Ashtonfield tutor noticed that a Year 10 student, previously hesitant to participate, now confidently leads class discussions by explaining her approach step-by-step while tackling challenging probability questions.

A recent high school session saw Rylan, who used to skip over complex trigonometric identities, independently apply multiple identities in succession and clearly write out his working—something he struggled with before.

Meanwhile, Annie in Year 11 took the initiative to design and conduct her own survey for a research project, gathering over 100 responses within days and presenting her findings neatly with proper captions and formatting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

So far so good! They have clicked from the first lesson. Clay is learning lots so Ryan's style obviously suits Clay to a T. Ryan is a lovely boy and we are very happy with him.

Marnus really enjoys Kamran's help and encouragement. They were preparing for his test on Thursday and I hope to get a positive test result because of that. I appreciate my son's positive response to Kamran and his tutoring.

We have had 2 Tutoring lessons with Ishita so far and we are very happy. Ishita is a delightful and intelligent young woman and Emily and I felt comfortable the minute we met her. She is quite an effective tutor and we look forward to get continuing her tutoring of Emily. Thank you for your support.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as East Maitland Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ashtonfield Public School.
