I think, its a maths tutor's responsibility in helping the student to understand their inner potential by suggesting ways to broaden their skill sets, pushing their boundary to convey that there is much to learn in life. Other than being a punctual and effective educator, I am flexible by allowing my students to learn in their own phase. It makes…

A tutor is there both to teach content and to improve a student's study habits. Seeking advice from teachers, peers, and my past tutor, I have developed helpful study skills and I recognise inefficient habits. I have gained an appreciation for tuning study practices to the individual for optimal results. Learning to work with my ADHD has…

I think it is important for a maths tutor to be patient with their students and also to want their student to succeed outside of tutoring. It's important for tutors to encourage students to think for themselves and to be able to adjust their teaching methods for each individual student. Having past tutors recently myself I think I understand how…

Considering the fact that Tutoring means development, it is important to award a good comment, when the child does something good, and if its bad, encourage him and show the correct way. Never be negative. Help the child, have patience, be polite. Hold his hand and show him the correct path. If you are sincere, he will follow it. I believe in…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do is to be a role model. This shapes the students work ethic, which not only helps their organisational skills, but allows them to be willing to learn. Being a mentor is vital, since if a students basic needs in terms of stress isn't met, then learning is at the bottom of their list of priorities.…

In addition to improving the student's understanding of a particular subject area, the real value comes from: (1) learning *how* to learn; in other words, getting to understand the many resources available (web and paper), attacking the problem, and getting the answer independently. This is empowering for the student, and essential for further…

Establishing a routine is one of the most important things a maths tutor can do for a student. Tutor helps the student to identify the root-cause of a problem and then finding out the solution. A schedule is followed throughout the teaching tenure. This practice not only helps the student to excel in their studies, but also in their lives as they…

I believe it is just as important to be an encouraging and steady influence - building confidence and dispelling fears - as it is to impart knowledge and study skills. Inside AsquithTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Emily practised writing equivalent fractions and solving for missing numbers in fraction equations.

In Year 8, Cameron worked through straight line graphs—covering y = mx + b, x and y intercepts—and completed a review of his recent exam.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Jess focused on trigonometry with school homework using SOH CAH TOA, as well as applying the sine and cosine rules to solve problems involving non-right-angled triangles.

Recent Challenges

In Year 3, a student hesitated to answer even when correct, as one tutor noted: "She felt unsure of herself and her answer even if right," which slowed participation in times tables work.

A Year 8 student's written solutions in algebra missed key steps; as the tutor put it, "working out wasn't shown systematically," so small errors went undetected until review.

In senior grades, one student struggled to break down multi-step trigonometry problems—attempting whole questions at once led to confusion over formulas and layout.

Another forgot formula sheets at home, making practice incomplete and feedback harder to apply during revision.

Recent Achievements

One Asquith tutor noticed a Year 8 student who used to skip steps when solving equations now showing every stage of their working without reminders, making fewer errors as a result.

In a recent session with a Year 10 student, the tutor observed her choosing the correct formula for trigonometry problems independently—something she hesitated to attempt last term.

Meanwhile, during primary sessions, one younger learner who previously guessed answers in times tables drills began pausing to work them out methodically before responding. The same lesson finished with him tackling mixed multiplication questions without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

It was great to be associated as a tutor with EzyMath tutoring. I was granted numerous opportunities to teach high school students in my suburb which allowed me to pursue my love for teaching as well as Maths as a subject. The periodic training modules and feedback forms meant that I was also developing my teaching skills and providing valuable feedback which was thoroughly followed up to make the experience better for all the tutors. I will always encourage my friends to go for the company when and if they were looking to start work as a tutor or to anyone who may be looking to get tutored. Thanks for having me.

Your company is fantastic and I was very grateful for the tutorage and progress Kristin made. I will definitely recommend your services to others. Kristin has in fact improved so much that she is now quite solid in math and has a better understanding and better discipline.

Tavishi is going extremely well with all 3 kids, she is very positive and the kids all like her and find her easy to learn from. They are all keen to see her each week so. She is able to explain things in a varied manner so the kids always understand in the end if they didn't in the start. Her manner and ability to work with 3 very different children is wonderful. She is happy, smiling, polite, prompt, mature and has been a great addition to our afternoons. I would have no hesitations in recommending her to anyone and have done to a few friends already.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hornsby Shire Library & Information Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Asquith Public School.
