Ancient History Tutor South Nowra, NSW
I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to create a safe and supportive learning environment, explain concepts clearly, and build a student’s confidence. A good tutor listens to the student’s needs, adapts their teaching methods, and helps them develop independent learning and problem-solving skills rather than just providing…

Adam has been a wonderful addition to Rachel's studying efforts. His explanations of math content have been very explicitly explained and is helping Rachel build a deeper knowledge.

Inside Back ForestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Isla worked on ratios and rates, focusing on converting rates into different units and applying best buy strategies to real-world problems.

For Year 10, Daniel practised graphing linear equations and revising trigonometry skills, including solving angle problems using diagrams.

In Year 12, Priya covered networks—specifically spanning trees and minimum spanning trees—and also reviewed critical path analysis by drawing network diagrams from activity tables.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, a student often relied on formulas without fully understanding their application in linear equations; as one tutor noted, "he should work on trying to avoid rule dependency and aim to understand the formulas used."

During Year 10 revision, messy or inconsistent working out—particularly in graphing tasks—made it difficult for her to check answers or spot errors.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 student tackling HSC-level finance problems sometimes skimmed questions and missed key details when under time pressure. This meant she would overlook instructions about rounding or fail to justify her answers with clear calculations.

Recent Achievements

One Back Forest tutor recently saw a big shift with a Year 11 student who used to second-guess her trigonometry skills; after several sessions, she now sketches graphs independently and even explains transformations out loud as she works.

Another win came from a Year 10 student who, after struggling to show working in ratio problems, is now writing clear steps for each answer without reminders—a real change from last term's rushed guesses.

A younger student also made progress by tackling algebra basics confidently and, for the first time, solved two-step equations entirely on his own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Both Thomasine and Luke are liking Scott as well. He has always been on time and is very polite. Jonathan and I can't believe our luck!

Adele is very happy with Irina. We have already seen results. In her last in class quiz, she came 5th in the class. An improvement from a few weeks ago when Adele got 3/15 for the class quiz.

We have just had our first session with John and I am writing to let you know how impressed I am with John. He was on time, polite and dressed professionally . His calm manner with Oliver was great. Oliver really enjoyed it and liked John very much . I am looking forward to many more positive sessions that result in Oliver improving .

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nowra (Central) Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Terara Public School.
