Ancient History Tutor South Nowra, NSW
I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to create a safe and supportive learning environment, explain concepts clearly, and build a student’s confidence. A good tutor listens to the student’s needs, adapts their teaching methods, and helps them develop independent learning and problem-solving skills rather than just providing…

Local Reviews

Quality and experienced maths tutoring from Jes. This whole experience has been so personalised and streamlined and has given me such peace of mind. The first hour free was such a bonus. The phone call follow up from start to finish was great. I would not hesitate to recommend this tutoring service to anyone. My daughter was doubtful at first but there was an immediate change in her maths outlook for a great start to high school.

Inside BrundeeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Alex worked on solving two-step equations and practiced factorising basic algebraic expressions.

For Year 10, Sam focused on revising trigonometry, including angles of elevation and depression using diagrams, as well as applying trig ratios to real-world problems.

In Year 11, Mia tackled networks by identifying paths, trails, circuits, and shortest paths in network diagrams, along with introductory questions about network definitions and terminology.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student tackling linear equations often relied on memorised rules, with a tutor noting "he should try to work towards solving certain problems without rule dependency." This approach sometimes left gaps in understanding, especially during more complex rearrangements.

In Year 11 Mathematics, another student avoided showing full working for multi-step questions—one note observed, "writing down steps in solving harder questions" was needed for three- or four-mark problems.

During HSC revision, incomplete homework on statistics and network diagrams meant opportunities to clarify misunderstandings were missed; feedback couldn't be applied until the next session.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Brundee recently noticed some encouraging shifts across different students. One Year 11 student, Andrea, not only identified where she lost marks on a recent exam but was able to explain why another approach would work better—she hadn't done this kind of self-correction before.

Meanwhile, Laaibah (Year 10) has started showing her working more clearly when solving ratio questions; last term, she'd skip steps and lose marks for missing details.

In a primary session, Isaak demonstrated he could now solve perimeter and area problems for both 2D and 3D shapes without prompting, even though he used to hesitate with these.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are more than happy with Kancelot. He and Rohan seem to get along well, he is punctual and polite , and is also helping Rohan improve his maths skills.

Yes, everything is going well and Avishag is GREAT!  She is clear, direct, and no-nonsense, which is exactly what Is needs (can't get away with anything), and yet this is balanced with underlying kindness (motivated to do well).  It's not something I can describe well in words, but Isabelle definitely responds well to Avi's method.  She has improved to passing the most recent test (from massively nowhere near passing), and I can see her confidence in math has improved, too.  She was shocked to suddenly find herself helping some of her friends work through questions that they couldn't understand, and enjoyed the feeling, so that is an achievement!  Yes, she still has a long way to go, but we're off to a good start.  It's so good to have Avi reinforce methods of organization and skills that don't register for Is when I mention them, too!  We are both very, very grateful to have Avi help Is through this.

We are extremely happy with Estephanie.   She has managed to hit exactly the right note.   We are just looking for Isabel to understand some basic principles and Estaphie is managing this with patience and skill.    I cannot speak highly enough of Estaphanie.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nowra (Central) Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Terara Public School.
