Inside BalnarringTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Damir practised number identification and basic addition and subtraction, alongside early measuring and shape recognition using hands-on activities.

For Year 8, Mira focused on multiplying and dividing fractions as well as mastering the order of operations through step-by-step worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Lucas tackled algebraic skills such as expanding brackets and simplifying expressions, then applied index laws in several practice problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 4 student hesitated to attempt homework unless prompted, and struggled to focus when working independently—"needs more initiative to do work, i.e. attempting homework when I am not here."

In Year 8 Maths, another student avoided writing out working and instead tried to reason through problems aloud or in their head; this led to lost trains of thought and errors ("he attempts to do all his working in his head... sometimes results in him losing track").

Meanwhile, a senior Chemistry student missed over a month's worth of assigned work due to poor organization, falling behind on critical content.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Balnarring recently noticed that a Year 9 student who previously hesitated to ask for help now raises specific questions when tackling algebra problems, instead of guessing quietly.

Another high school student made real strides in science: after struggling with electrolytic cells, she can now confidently explain Faraday's Law and identify key steps without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner who often lost focus during maths is staying engaged for full sessions—he completed all six workbook pages last lesson with almost no errors and volunteered to try an extra times tables challenge at the end.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My experience with ezymaths was one like a rollercoaster that ended on a high note. What's special about ezymaths is that you will find support and there will be teaching material and teaching strategies available if you get stuck. Overall, as a tutor, you will learn a lot more than you will expect.

For establishing tutors, Ezy Math provides a solid support base to springboard them into the market. Not only does it take out the stress of sourcing and securing clients, but the CEP modules ensure the constant engagement of the learning styles of the tutor, and make it clear that all manner of support is available for those who need it. This programme really sets Ezy Math apart from other services, and allows tutors to blossom into confident, experienced mentors. The in-home service really does provide a unique experience for clients, which they truly appreciate. It also helps to make a clear distinction in students' minds between the lessons offered at school, to the very different style of education tutors have to produce. For all prospective tutors, Ezy Math is a great way to grow comfortable within the industry. Through the guidance of Ezy Math it has been a joy to watch students develop a real confidence because of my tutelage.

I just wanted to express my thanks to you and my son's tutor Sam. With his assistance Grady improved his maths results from virtually failing the subject to achieving a very respectable B + for his end of year  11 final grade. Sam was personable and patient, encouraging and motivating. Even though my son has decided not to continue studying maths in year  12 , I am delighted with the results he was able to achieve ,and the confidence and self- belief he attained. Please pass these comments on to Sam. Again, thank you so much.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hastings Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Balnarring Primary School.
