Mick is reliable, enthusiastic and polite. He uses many analogies, recapping work and setting questions. We will continue with Mick through grade 12 and recommend him.

Inside Merricks BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Damir worked on number identification and basic addition and subtraction, as well as recognising and measuring shapes using simple diagrams.

Year 8 student Willow focused on solving algebraic equations and tackling more complex fraction operations in preparation for upcoming topics.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Mira practised multiplying and dividing fractions alongside mastering order of operations through step-by-step problem sets.

Recent Challenges

On a Year 8 algebra worksheet, he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors—a habit that led to confusion when reviewing solutions.

In Year 10 graphing tasks, written work lacked clear axis labels and precise plotting, making it hard to identify where mistakes occurred.

One student in Year 7 avoided writing working for fractions, instead talking through steps aloud but losing track mid-problem.

Homework completion was inconsistent for both primary and senior students; missing practice slowed confidence gains and made it harder to spot persistent gaps—especially with worded problems and times tables revision.

Recent Achievements

One Merricks Beach tutor noticed a real shift with Willow, a Year 8 student who now tackles challenging equations on her own after initially hesitating to try harder problems.

In high school sessions, Riley made noticeable progress in mental maths—he's begun performing operations in his head quickly and accurately, something that was previously slow for him.

Another recent win: Gracie from primary years, who used to feel overwhelmed by complex numbers, managed to handle place value confidently and even completed multi-step calculations without pausing for reassurance.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I have used other tutors and tutor services in the past however the difference with ezymath was that I received regular reports on how my son was progressing and also tips and tools to enhance his learning.  The tutoring is very structured and also disciplined which kept my son on track.  Yesterday we received his year 9 Naplan results and he achieved a Band 10, and his results last semester at school were excellent and his confidence and ability has improved immensely  , many thanks to ezymath and his fantastic tutor.

Ezy Math tutoring gave me an invaluable opportunity and experience. With fortnightly advice, support and materials I was able to give my all to my students. The reward being an invaluable satisfaction when the mother heard from my students' teacher that her work was really improving. I really enjoyed the experience and always left the students feeling like I had made a change. For prospective tutors I would say Ezy Maths is a great place to work, they provide plenty of materials, support and the staff are very co-operative and understanding about your needs

Matt was excellent, he helped Josh immensely. I only wish we had started earlier. I now know who to come to for my other two children. Thank you.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hastings Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Balnarring Primary School.
