The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is GUIDING! NOT teaching to solve a single problem. A good teacher will guide a student to figure out techniques by himself. Because especially in Mathematics, approach to all problems is not the same. It's the teacher's duty to guide the student to figure out the techniques to each…

A tutor should be able to identify the weaknesses and strengths of a student and lift their confidence first. An excellent tutor has patience to work with the student until the student's needs are achieved. Giving positive feedback when they present their work, which will then stimulate their work ethic. I am opinion I reckon the most important is for the student to know their true passion in knowledge. Many of us are forced to be good at something and spend thousands of hours of hard work. Everyone could achieve a reasonably high score if they had spent the effort in it, given they were not demotivated during the process. I believe it is most…

One of the most important things that a tutor can do for their students is create a safe learning environment for them where they are not judged and can openly ask questions as I believe this will truly allow them to gain deep understanding in the content they are learning which is what I think is crucial in any learning aspect as understanding is…

A tutor should be dedicated to his job, which is to facilitate his student to learn things in a easy and practical manner. Learning should not be boring, instead should be fun. The most important and primary action that a tutor needs to do is to know his/her student as it elicits the tutor a good background about the student strenghts and weaknesses. I think it is important for tutors to make sure students learn the content instead of just memorizing things. This will set them up for future success in their studies. Local Reviews

Helpfulness, Timeliness and transparency.

Inside BayswaterTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Tom focused on building confidence with times tables and extended into fraction basics using visual aids.

In Year 9, Emily tackled simultaneous equations and strengthened her understanding of linear graphing through worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student James prepared for a Unit 1/2 Biology exam by reviewing phylogenetic trees and exploring genetic modification methods, applying past SAC feedback to target specific knowledge gaps.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths Methods, one student tended to skip showing full working in calculus and log problems, which often hid small errors—"she knew the right process but a missing sign tripped her up."

In Year 7, another struggled to recall area and volume formulas during problem-solving; organizing key information on paper before attempting answers was suggested.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student hesitated to attempt tricky questions again after initial mistakes, slowing their progress and denting confidence.

Revisiting older topics also proved challenging for some senior students who found past concepts faded quickly without regular revision.

Recent Achievements

A Bayswater tutor noticed that a Year 10 student, who had previously needed significant support with area and volume formulas, was able to independently lay out and solve problems this week—an encouraging shift from earlier lessons where step-by-step guidance was necessary.

In Year 12 Methods, one student who'd been stuck on advanced differentiation questions last month managed to tackle most of them solo this session, only asking for help on a particularly complex problem requiring multiple past skills.

Meanwhile, a younger student now completes multi-digit times tables without hesitation after weeks of breaking down harder ones together.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

The sessions are best summed up by Sasha herself after Tiasha left last Monday afternoon - "Mum do we get to fill in a questionnaire about Tiasha because I think she is a fantastic teacher. She's introducing me to new things and explains things in a way that I understand." - we are very happy so far.

Luke was a great tutor and we appreciate everything he did. Overall we were completely satisfied and would be happy to recommend your service.

In regards to Manisha and the help she provided lsabella last year, my husband and I were very happy with the improvement in Isabella's maths results.  Manisha was able to explain things in a way that she could understand in a non judgemental way, gave her some great examples to work with and was available for questions any time.  Isabella's confidence in her maths improved as a result of all of Manisha's efforts. Before we came to you, Isabella disliked maths intensely and had no confidence in the subject.  The more comfortable she became, she was able to assist her classmates who were struggling. I would be more than happy to recommend Ezymath if the opportunity arises.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bayswater Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bayswater Secondary College.
