I think tutor should do everything for his or her students because after the parents only teacher is one person who can very closed for the student. Tutor should look after their students and if they have any bad habit then it's tutor responsibility to guide them in right direction and also inform their parents. Tutor can make hard subject into…

In my opinion, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to break a concept down to its simplest form. In my school days, I often found this to be the easiest way to learn. If your basic foundation of any concept is strong, it gets much easier to build on that and learn more complex information pertaining to it. Moreover, being…

I consider a tutor responsibility towards students is to be committed and flexible. The tutor should be with their student even if both have been going through the exam period. The tutor should never cancel on a lesson with a student for their own studies. As well, it is a must to be patient towards the student and be flexible as a tutor to learn…

According to my work experience, what a tutor can do for students is to stimulate their interest in a subject, and when they are confused about certain topics, provide them with ideas and help them explore to find the final answer, rather than tell them the theoretical answer directly. This will give students a sense of accomplishment about their…

The first important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give them confidence that they can do it. Everyone has the potential to succeed academically and as a tutor, I will encourage my students to always do their best. This is because, at the end of any tests/exams, the students will be relieved knowing that they have given their best through…

Impart upon a student not knowledge per se, but rather a desire to expand their own knowledge through self-directed learning. Learning and education should be a lifelong process, not one that ends when an individual completes their primary vocational education. Learning makes us grow and develop and look at things in different ways, and the desire…

I consider that the most important thing I could do for the student is to create a safe environment for them. More important than anything else, an effective tutor must be able to meet the student at their level, whether that is their level of understanding or lack thereof of a given topic, or even going the extra mile and addressing external circumstances they face that affect their academic performance. Inside BentleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ali worked on finding gradients of lines using both the rise over run method and co-ordinates, as well as solving linear inequalities and exploring parallel and perpendicular gradients.

For Year 10, Sara focused on chemical equations by practising ionic formulas, hydrated compounds, and empirical formula calculations, reinforcing her understanding through worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Nia tackled decimals and fractions in geometry questions, using diagrams to help compare values and solve problems involving shapes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student working on chemical equations had not completed the assigned homework, leading to repeated minor errors in writing formulas—"the student still shows some minor mistakes in writing chemical formulas," noted one tutor.

In Year 8 maths, another student's written work on rearranging equations was messy and lacked clear labelling, making it harder to spot calculation errors before moving on.

A Year 4 learner avoided practicing weekly spelling words, so the same mistakes resurfaced during class dictation.

One Year 7 student faced ongoing challenges converting word problems into diagrams, losing focus mid-task and requiring multiple reminders to return attention to problem-solving.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bentley noticed one Year 11 student who used to hesitate with balancing ionic equations now talks through each step aloud and manages most problems independently.

Another high schooler, previously unsure about forming linear equations, has started solving for 'c' and graphing inequalities without prompting—she even asked for extra questions last session.

In a Year 4 session, a student who would get distracted during math tasks stayed focused throughout and answered all mental calculation questions quickly, showing much more patience than before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cannington Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Santa Clara School.
