A good tutor should be able to provide perspective. A good tutor should also be able to listen and understand the student so that the most effective learning approach can take place. A tutor should be adaptable. Patience; as the youngest member in my family I've had to learn to be patient, about everything, even the simple task of waiting to use…

A tutor has the ability to aid a student and supplement the learning from school, with some additional knowledge which will be valuable. Tutoring sessions, also allow for students to catch up on things that they did not understand properly in class. A good tutor can easily solve all those problems of students which they normally feel hesitate to discuss in the classroom. A tutor provides those students a good chance to ask and discuss their queries easily. I teach my students in a nice environment. Tutors can offer a lot to a student that needs help and is finding their studies difficult. One of the things is another perspective of teaching the content to the student, different from the way the classroom teacher has taught them. By doing this if they do not understand in that perspective, it helps by giving them an alternative…

Making things simpler for the student to understand is the best thing all students want from a tutor. Giving them simpler methods to do questions and encouraging them to be better are very crucial. On my opinion a tutor should bring up their habit to ask more, be more interested in learning new things, and not just only improving their answering skills in the exam to get high marks/ grades. A tutor can be a complete role model for a student. The only reason why the child wanted a tutor in the first place was to understand the topic and become well versed with it. If tuition can offer this to the child, along with an interactive environment, it would help boost the child’s confidence immensely. I believe a high self esteem can…

Inside BentleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ali worked on finding gradients of lines using both the rise over run method and co-ordinates, as well as solving linear inequalities and exploring parallel and perpendicular gradients.

For Year 10, Sara focused on chemical equations by practising ionic formulas, hydrated compounds, and empirical formula calculations, reinforcing her understanding through worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Nia tackled decimals and fractions in geometry questions, using diagrams to help compare values and solve problems involving shapes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student working on chemical equations had not completed the assigned homework, leading to repeated minor errors in writing formulas—"the student still shows some minor mistakes in writing chemical formulas," noted one tutor.

In Year 8 maths, another student's written work on rearranging equations was messy and lacked clear labelling, making it harder to spot calculation errors before moving on.

A Year 4 learner avoided practicing weekly spelling words, so the same mistakes resurfaced during class dictation.

One Year 7 student faced ongoing challenges converting word problems into diagrams, losing focus mid-task and requiring multiple reminders to return attention to problem-solving.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bentley noticed one Year 11 student who used to hesitate with balancing ionic equations now talks through each step aloud and manages most problems independently.

Another high schooler, previously unsure about forming linear equations, has started solving for 'c' and graphing inequalities without prompting—she even asked for extra questions last session.

In a Year 4 session, a student who would get distracted during math tasks stayed focused throughout and answered all mental calculation questions quickly, showing much more patience than before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I started tutoring with Ezy Math as a way of keeping busy in the final year of my postgraduate research. I ended up loving every moment, especially those that were challenging. It was amazing to see my student gain more confidence in understanding and solving maths questions. The proudest moment for me was the session where she didn't ask for my help with her exercises, but finished them perfectly. This experience encouraged me to apply for secondary teacher training this year, and I can't wait to start. Ezy Math Tutoring is such a supportive environment. I really appreciate the personal development modules that they provided, as my student and  benefited greatly from them.

I found EzyMath on the internet when I was trying to find a maths tutor for my daughter leading up to her final exams. Ezymath organised a tutor within two days. Nathan was punctual, organised and very proficient. My daughters grades in maths increased by 10% after just a few sessions. My daughter and I both wished we had of contacted EzyMath sooner and would definitely recommend their services to others.

It's my first time ever tutoring primary school and high school students formally. I admit I was quite nervous at the beginning and I thought the parents would have been highly demanding. I found that the parents are extremely cooperative and the whole work environment is very flexible. I devolped my Communication skills, especially with younger kids and their parents. I believe in this era, face-to-face conversation is overlooked by many thanks to the advanced technologies but the tutoring experience strengthen my belief that face-to-face communication is still the best way to communicate and share ideas.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cannington Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Santa Clara School.
