To be able to mould and modify a lesson plan in accordance to what the student's need. Being compassionate and understanding their struggles and what they lack, going that little extra mile to help them push for them to get what they want with their grades. I am highly adaptable and am always thinking outside the box. I have a natural knack for…

Teach them that true knowledge comes in understanding concepts and how they apply in real life, not just memorisation of assessed components. Knowledge becomes much more appealing and simple when you understand why you need it. I am very good at teaching maths concepts and chemistry specififically. It is pivotal that the tutor is always easily approachable as otherwise shy students may be reluctant to ask the tutor questions and thus those shy kids may end up falling behind. In addition, I feel that tutors must always be supportive towards the student as any harsh or negative comments may severely hinder a students willingness and ability to…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them recognise the improvements and progress they are making. From a psychological perspective intrinsic motivation is important but extrinsic validation is equally so in a learning environment. When small improvements are pointed out and celebrated it is not only a mindset shift but…

Being encouraging, speaking clearly, giving comments, and keeping up students' motivation are what tutors should focus on most. The goal is to understand each student's needs and modify the approach as necessary. Students' personal and academic development is promoted by a supportive and upbeat learning environment, as well as by setting…

I believe a tutor's duty is not to necessarily improve the intellectual capability of their client, but rather, guide them in a way that allows them to harness their own learning potential through customised, carefully tailored programs specific to the individual. Whilst this may not necessarily be viable for every circumstance, it is the role of…

The most important thing would be to keep the student engaged - the mere delivery of information means nothing if the student is not interested, or given a chance to apply it. Providing activities is paramount in this case, as it allows students to apply concepts at a pace they are comfortable with and become familiar with them through 'learning…

While having a strong foundational knowledge of the subjects is important, I believe communication skills, patience and a drive to learn is what makes a good tutor. As a tutor, you have to have an abundance of patience because you are trying to assist with a concept they have previously struggled with, and hence may have convinced themselves they…

The actual academics itself, while being at the core of the tutoring, is not the most valuable aspect. From my experience, most students do not have the care or respect for their instructors, and mutual respect in particular is essential, because mutual trust is otherwise close to impossible for many people. The moist important thing a tutor can do for their student is help the student come to their own understanding of the content and presenting the content in a more 'digestible' way. I have a wide range on knowledge on a variety of topics that would be of use as a tutor. Also as I have experience at university, I believe that I would have relevant…

Local Reviews

This was very easy to set up for my child. I spoke on the phone will a very friendly and helpful consultant who was able to make a plan based on my childs needs. Our tutor is friendly and well suited to my child. My childs confidence has been restored and we have seen improvements in understanding and ability in just one month. I would highly recommend this service.

Inside BethaniaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Lucas worked on arithmetic with negative numbers and explored square roots, factors, and multiples through targeted practice.

For Year 8, Lachlan revised factorization and index laws, then applied substitution in algebraic expressions using class worksheets.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Xavier focused on probability revision for an upcoming exam and reinforced understanding of linear equations by solving practice problems from his recent assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student repeatedly avoided writing out full algebraic steps, as noted: "he's very good at solving questions but we're working on making sure he shows all the steps." This led to hidden errors and made reviewing mistakes harder.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner didn't complete assigned homework or start a major maths assignment, which delayed feedback and left key skills unpracticed.

In senior years, another student relied heavily on looking back at previous examples before trying new rounding tasks—slowing independent progress and deepening gaps in decimal understanding.

When fatigue hit mid-lesson, only half the planned material was covered.

Recent Achievements

A Bethania tutor noticed one Year 9 student, who previously rushed through algebra and made frequent errors, now carefully shows all working out and explains each step aloud—she even caught her own mistake without prompting this week.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student has started tackling statistics questions more independently; after initially hesitating to ask for help, he now readily voices his uncertainties before solving problems on his own.

In primary sessions, one Year 5 student who used to feel anxious about multiplication recently completed a times tables quiz accurately after practicing at home and asked the tutor for harder questions next time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Hello,  I am sorry I have been so uncommunicative.  Dev was lovely and I was sorry to see her go.  She helped Thea very much with her maths and did herself out of a job.  Thea and her teacher told me that she had caught up and was actually finishing before everyone else.  I hope however, I can get Dev back if Thea's maths falls back again.  She was really fantastic and can highly recommend her.

Daniel is absolutely thrilled with Sheetal. I am also impressed with Sheetal's approach and commitment. His tutoring dwells into understanding the concepts behind mathematical formulas, not just simple application, which is exactly what I had been hoping for. I am also pleased that Sheetal is open to extra lesson should Daniel need them. So in response to your question - very, very happy. I've been recommending you guys to my friends !!!

I applied to work at Ezy Math Tutoring because I was looking for a job that could give me teaching experience. Not only do Ezy Math provide this through the tutoring but they also give ongoing tutor learning modules to keep you thinking about different aspects of your tutoring and to help you keep improving as a tutor. They are dedicated to ensuring that their tutors are constantly improving and this is fantastic for both the tutor and the client! I appreciate the skills I have learned as my time as a tutor and am thankful for their support that they give me.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Marsden Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bethania Lutheran Primary School.
