The most important thing is to help improve students confidence in themselves so they can improve their skills and develop by themselves and with help. Be reassuring and helping the students, they can increase their confidence which helps them to learn more, ask questions and be more proactive in their learning. I am patient and considerate which…

Reveal the greater picture to the student, so that they have the understanding to tackle any problem. I am extremely patient with students, and with a subject such as english, in which I have had years of experience, I have such a thorough understanding that I can break down teachings to the most basic form. Maths has always come to me very…

I believe a maths tutor can help a student by believing in themselves when it comes to sacs and tests. By teaching the content clearly, a student should gain confidence and be able to know what to do on school homework, tests and sacs. I am a patient and caring person and will try my hardest to make sure students understand the concept. I am also…

Catering lessons towards the student's weaknesses and making sure that the student feels comfortable with you. I strongly believe that a linear approach to a maths tutoring lesson is not the way to go; the tutor should be changing the lesson up to fit the students' needs and be dynamically changing up the lesson for the student. Additionally, from…

I think a good tutor will be supportive of the student no matter what level they are at. If they get something wrong, always support them to discover the correct answer in a way that will help them learn. Rather than tell them how to do something exactly, help them learn how they can discover the solutions themselves, as someone wont always be…

Inside BolindaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Oliver worked through derivatives from first principles and practiced applying the derivative formula to a range of functions.

Year 10 student Ava focused on solving simultaneous linear and quadratic equations, along with exploring families of quadratic polynomial functions using graph sketches.

Meanwhile, Year 7 student Max reviewed length calculations and deepened understanding of Pythagoras' Theorem by working through geometry-based application questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths Methods, one student's written answers for first principles derivatives were hard to follow; structuring steps clearly was an issue, noted the tutor.

Another Year 10 struggled to set out application problems—working was present but scattered, which led to confusion during multi-step conversions and worded questions.

A senior student relied heavily on the CAS calculator for tangents and optimisation, sometimes at the expense of practicing by hand.

In Year 8 algebra, skipping consistent review of basic rearranging meant time was lost searching for errors rather than progressing with new content or harder quadratic examples.

Recent Achievements

A Bolinda tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who used to freeze at questions about stationary points—this week, she independently worked through tangent and normal lines, confidently explaining why dy/dx = 0 signals a turning point.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 boy who'd often guessed during group work began asking for clarification whenever he felt stuck on simultaneous equations, showing real initiative compared to his usual hesitation.

In primary sessions, one younger student who previously struggled with long division managed to solve three-digit problems without any remainder for the first time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Riria had a great first session with Derek. Riria found Derek to be patient and clear with his communication making it easier for Riria to get her head around what is being asked of her in regards to her physics lessons and assessments.

Cameron has been enjoying the time spent with Ryan. They get along well. Cameron is gaining confidence, both in doing his maths work and asking for help.

Delila is really a great find. She and Isabella are getting along extremely well - by far the best tutor we have had. I hope she can stay around for a long time.

Maths tutoring in Bolinda

If you take a few minutes to read through our reviews, you will probably feel surprised. Tutoring changes students' lives! Most parents organise a maths tutor just to boost a student's grades. Maybe even to take the burden of homework help off their own shoulders. However, a tutor does so much more than boosting grades and helping with homework.

Often the student's confidence increases and their grades increase across all subjects. They learn that directed effort results in improvement and that is a form of empowerment! This is what we're all about, our mission is to facilitate life-changing student-tutor matches. There is just nothing better than having a sense of self confidence and faith in your own competence.

We'll organise a maths tutor in Bolinda or any other location that works. You chose the time. You chose what you want the tutor to work on (or if you don't know, they can figure it out). You chose how often to have the tutoring. It's all up to you!

Give us a call on 1300 312 354 or enquire below. We'll have a chat to understand your needs and organise for one of our local Bolinda maths tutors to reach out. If you don't like the first lesson you won't be charged!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Romsey Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bolinda Primary School.
