Science Tutor Bomaderry, NSW
Being patient, encouraging and compassionate to students, particularly those who struggle to grasp content, have learning difficulties and those that suffer from anxiety. Also, being an enthusiastic tutor is important to engage students in their learning and to make mundane topics seem more interesting. I am knowledgeable in my subject areas and…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to form strong relationships with them by getting to know them more personally, supporting the students through both academic success and struggles, and both knowing the students and understanding their mood or concerns. My strengths as a tutor include being a skilful and passionate…

Science Tutor South Nowra, NSW
I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to create a safe and supportive learning environment, explain concepts clearly, and build a student’s confidence. A good tutor listens to the student’s needs, adapts their teaching methods, and helps them develop independent learning and problem-solving skills rather than just providing…

Stuart had his first session with Paige yesterday and she felt very comfortable with him. All looks good so far.

Inside BolongTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Adeel worked on simple interest problems in financial maths and practiced marking homework on graphing quadratic functions.

Year 10 student Laaibah focused on networks, including spanning trees and minimum spanning trees, as well as questions involving paths, trails, and circuits.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Zoe reviewed critical path analysis by drawing network diagrams from activity tables and calculating earliest start times and latest finish times for project tasks.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled with formatting solutions in algebra—working wasn't clearly set out line by line, making errors harder to spot ("should aim to keep it line by line, which makes it easier to check for errors").

In Year 10, another student showed a pattern of relying on memorised rules for trigonometry rather than understanding the concepts behind formulas.

A senior student preparing for HSC often skipped showing full working in financial maths problems; missing steps made review difficult when checking rounding or justification. The result: time lost retracing steps and uncertainty during revision.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bolong recently noticed Andrea, a Year 12 student, make a real shift: after struggling with trigonometric graphs, she was able to sketch them independently and explain how changing the period affects their shape—something that previously confused her.

In Year 11, Laaibah went from hesitating on finance questions to confidently calculating monthly interest rates and reading credit card statements without prompting.

For a younger win, one Year 6 student who used to skip working out is now showing every step for ratio problems and checking answers twice before moving on.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thanks for following up. The tutoring is going well with Patrick. He is a nice polite young man, and professional, and Nick has responded positively. I can already see a bit more confidence with his Maths work.

Thanks for your email. I am happy to let you know that Jessica has settled down very well with Patrick. She is actually enjoying her tutoring sessions and has already felt a bit stronger and more confident. I have taken some time to listen to them and they get on well and Jessica does not feel uncomfortable to ask questions. Both Jess and I are so far, very happy with Patrick's tutoring.

Nicola likes being tutored by Avi who she finds very patient and has a great ability to explain concepts so that they are easily understood.  We have had a great start and are really looking forward to some good results. As a parent I find Avi mature, responsible and reliable.  She is a good role model for Nicola.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nowra (Central) Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Terara Public School.
