I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is make sure that a student is able to understand why they do everything they are doing and then apply it to all questions in particular worded questions which can be rather difficult to comprehend. I don't focus on answers but rather I focus on the method and developing a more in depth…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student include: firstly, helping students understand what they think they are not being taught enough/want to understand more of, secondly, improve their confidence/attitude towards the content that they are learning in a specific class (e.g. Maths can seem quite daunting to some students; changing…

Support their learning without giving away the answers easily so that the student can actually practice while supervised. This not only and proves their understanding, but also allows them to go through all of the processes in problem solving so that they form their own framework to comprehend the subject matter. It is important to do this while…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to inspire, guide and listen. I think most of the time kids need someone to just listen to their concerns and talk through mental blocks they might be having. It is also essential to inspire kids to be motivated to learn and guide them in the correct direction study wise. I think I am a…

I strongly believe all students learn differently and have their own unique study methods, therefore it is important for a tutor to adjust to the student's needs and personalise the study session. However, I also consider it useful that tutors help develop new study habits and introduce new ways to learn whilst tutoring in a way that the student…

The tutor is there to guide and help the student but the best thing a tutor can do is to create way for the student to come to the answers themselves as well. A tutor can help children think better thoughts and give them strategies but it is also up to the student to work hard to improve. A tutor is there for encouragement and support as well…

Tutors should be able to convey information in a way that not only makes sense, but engages the student. A tutor should be as eager about the subject they are teaching as they are knowledgeable of the topic, and should strive to convey this excitement and passion through their teaching. The ability to help a student not only understand, but love…

Being consistent, diligent and warm are what I consider to be the most important things a tutor can do for a student. A tutor needs to be consistent in his/her teaching methods as well as his/her approach to a specific topic so that the student can easily understand what is being taught. Local Reviews

Easy to organise a tutor, and the tutor we got is so great with my 9 year old. Patient and very knowledgeable, and most importantly is really helping my daughter catch up and feel more confident with maths. Thank you!
Linda, Boondall

Inside BoondallTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Georgia focused on creative writing for an English assignment and prepared for upcoming Shakespeare assessments.

Year 12 student Olivia practised drawing ray diagrams and applied formulas for period, frequency, and wavelength in Physics.

Meanwhile, another Year 12, Noah, reviewed concepts of black body radiation and the double-slit experiment to deepen understanding of quantum phenomena.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student arrived with almost no school resources, making it hard to build on recent classwork; as a tutor noted, "had she gathered all her resources, the lesson would've been smoother."

In Year 12 Physics, one student repeatedly forgot to bring a charged computer, which meant lost time accessing materials and completing tasks.

For a Year 6 maths learner, reluctance to write out working led to confusion when mistakes occurred—reminders helped her see where things went wrong.

Meanwhile, in Year 8 science, distraction from upcoming assessments made it difficult to stay focused on current tasks.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Boondall recently noticed a Year 11 student who used to avoid asking for help now regularly prepares thoughtful questions before each session, showing a real shift toward independent learning.

In Year 9 maths, one student began using her formula sheet unprompted and checked her working without reminders—a big change from needing constant reassurance last term.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who often hesitated on multiplication tests managed to complete all problems solo this week, even when feeling unwell. She finished every question accurately and didn't give up halfway through the task.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Zac is progressing well and is enjoying his tutoring with Emily.  He has clicked with her and they seem to be working well together.

We really like Mark, his communication style really suits Remy, and he is able to work out what she needs very quickly. We would love to stay with him until the end of the year. They are a good match. Thank you

I came to Ezy Math tutoring honestly because tutoring seemed like the best thing that would fit into my timetable. What I didn't expect was how much I would enjoy teaching the students. I found myself excited to come to tutoring, committed to doing all the prep work and checking up on my students before and after a big exam. I'm not gonna lie, its a lot of work but with even more reward as you see the students you're teaching slowly start to understand and apply their content. I felt my greatest achievement was taking a 60% achieving student in the second year 10 maths class and encouraging and working with him until he was hitting mid-90s marks and had been accepted into ext 1 maths for this year. I'm sad to leave Ezy math because I really enjoyed tutoring but I Would definitely recommend it to anyone. The support at Ezy math was the best. Even though I never met a staff member I felt they were great at checking up on me and helping me when I needed it!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sandgate Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Boondall State School.
