Inside BrassallTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Cale worked on simplifying and expanding algebraic expressions, along with reviewing index laws using example problems and notes.

A Year 9 student focused on graphing linear equations and interpreting scatter plots to understand bivariate data relationships.

Meanwhile, a Year 10 student spent time on consumer arithmetic—specifically percentages and basic financial calculations—and also practised Pythagoras' theorem through class-style exercises and visual aids.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student lost a maths assignment due to not backing up files, which had a major impact on his grade; "we will need to change the way he saves documents."

In senior maths, another student's revision was hindered by incomplete note-taking—her tutor noted that "when there is no math in a class, that should be summarized for that day."

For Year 8 algebra, one student repeatedly forgot formulas and did not write them down, leading to mistakes during practice.

Tiredness and lack of focus also meant answers were written slowly or key steps skipped, especially after long school days.

Recent Achievements

A Brassall tutor recently saw a high school student who used to avoid worded maths problems now working through them with less hesitation, even tackling half of her homework set in this area after previously struggling.

Another older student surprised her tutor by beginning research for an assessment before the session—showing initiative she hadn't demonstrated earlier in the term—and continued editing her own draft independently.

In a Year 4 session, a student who was initially unsure about adding decimals quickly picked up the method and started solving similar questions without help.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

The tutor (Grace) was excellent and I would highly recommend her to any client.

We are super happy with Kaia. Ella has been chosen in the top maths group for 2019/20! Her maths has improved out of sight! Ella is looking forward to working with Kaia in the new year.

We will definitely take it up again next year as it has been beneficial to the twins and their confidence has also grown. We have recommended Ezy Math Tutoring and Lewis to other parents as well.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ipswich Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ipswich Adventist School.
