My son is more confident with Math after his first tutoring session! Really clicked with the tutor who is fantastic and communicates with me regularly to let me know how the sessions are going

Inside WulkurakaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Emily reviewed overtime pay and penalty rates, reflected on PSMT assessment challenges, and practiced order of operations with visualisation strategies.

For Year 10, Noah worked through bivariate statistics and interpreting data for his PSMT assessment, including an overview of algebra links.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Ava focused on geometric and arithmetic sequences alongside graphing skills, then explored quadratic, cubic, and exponential equations using worked examples.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, a lack of regular note-taking became apparent—"she left her notebook in class," so key revision points went unrecorded.

During Year 11 PSMT preparation, missing or incomplete homework slowed progress, with the tutor noting more autonomous practice is needed at home.

In Year 10 algebra, Emily hesitated to revisit concepts alone and often avoided re-reading explanations after confusion.

Meanwhile, messy written work in a Year 9 graphing session made it harder to spot calculation errors, requiring extra time for corrections instead of advancing. This pattern left her less prepared when tackling new or cumulative material in assessments.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Wulkuraka noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who used to freeze up on mock tests—recently, she tackled challenging algebra questions by talking through her process out loud, catching more of her own mistakes and finishing the worksheet without guessing.

Another high schooler has begun writing clearer answers independently, rather than copying examples; she's also become much more willing to ask for help when stuck, instead of just waiting for hints.

In a younger session, one student showed new independence by recalling how to solve volume problems after weeks away from the topic and completed all practice questions solo.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Shannon is delighted with Daniel and I can already see measurable results. She appears more confident.  We are more than happy to continue with him. I just need to work out  which plan to choose. When do I need to decide this?

Jason is a very nice young man who is always prompt and seems well prepared for each lesson. Charles  enjoys his tutoring so far and seems to be gaining a little more confidence.

Jem is really happy working with Josie and looks forward to her time working with her. Josie has a great way of relating to Jem and making her feel confident.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ipswich Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Leichhardt State School.
