My experience with helping my friends and classmates speaks here, that I should be patient and understanding about their situation, at the same time be scheduled and organized so the tutor and a student can be kept up to schedule with the current position of their curriculum, whist not feeling pressured to do so. As a undergraduate student, I am…

The most important things that a tutor can do for a student is to be reliable, knowledgable and help the student reach and exceed their expectations. Also to be able to teach content in a way that makes learning fun and enjoyable is critical to a student's learning capacity. First of all, which a tutor can do is to be a friend who motivates them, make them learn, make them understand without any pressure and excel them in their early stage of career. Secondly, it's all about how comfortable the students are with tutor to ask them doubts without any hesitation. Thirdly, make them learn how to do a smart work instead…

There are many facets of tutoring essential to achieve the optimum yet I think the most important element is the one on one quality of tutoring. This enables a student to be provided with specific feedback and assistance of their areas for improvement or difficulties. Understanding the strengths an weaknesses of a student is the most important…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be loving. Actually caring for the student's academic success will not only make them more likely to succeed, but it will help them go beyond to reaching a scholarly level. My two leading strengths are that I know how to teach to make difficult subjects more easy to understand and I am…

Tutors are just not there to help students with their students. Their most important role is to be friends and be able to guide their students in the right direction. If tutors become friends, the students listen and trust them more. Of course this does not mean that students can take tutors for a ride. As a tutor I am hardworking, diligent and…

The tutor's first job is converting hard 'textbook language' to easy and illustrative concepts. Next is polishing the student's skills with extensive exercises while making sure he has time for other hobbies. It helps if the tutor is aware of things such as fun interactive quizzes or videos that helps makes concepts seem simpler while also keeping…

One of the most important things when tutoring is to maxmise your effort to help a student in any way possible, without actually doing an assignment/answering the question for them. I believe my role as a tutor is to help grow self-efficacy and to empower my students, so they are confident in tackling any problem. I am well spoken and am able to…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide guidance that goes beyond the subject content. Teaching effectively so that the student can understand the content. It is important to make the students do their own work, rather than doing it for them as they do not learn effectively if the tutor does the work for them. Inside Breakfast PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Imogen worked on converting between fractions and decimals, as well as identifying factors and multiples using number patterns.

For Year 8, Amber tackled expanding algebraic brackets and moved on to factorising expressions with practice problems.

In Year 11, Hannah reviewed the measurement of economic growth along with understanding the marginal propensity to consume/save and applying the simple multiplier formula through real-world examples.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Mathematics, Tyler often skipped setting out his working clearly, especially when expanding brackets or solving algebraic fractions. As one tutor noted, "he worked out answers in his head instead of writing steps," leading to confusion over operation signs and missed terms.

During exam revision, he sometimes neglected assigned homework, which meant foundational skills—like inequalities and rates—were not fully reinforced.

In senior Economics (Year 12), rushing through comprehension tasks led to overlooked errors and difficulty connecting ideas between texts. This left gaps during practice exams when questions required deeper analysis under time pressure.

Recent Achievements

In Year 8 maths, Tyler used to struggle with algebraic fractions but now solves them independently and even applies those skills when tackling new exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, a senior student working on Business Studies essays moved from mainly descriptive writing to more analytical responses after targeted feedback—now she edits her work to focus on argument rather than just content.

For English, Zarraf was once hesitant to share ideas aloud but now maintains eye contact and elaborates thoughtfully during discussions, especially when prompted by the text.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Gladesville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Patrick's Catholic Primary School.
