Sometimes the same information can be summarised and presented in a different way that is just easier for some people to understand. My own capacity for learning. Legal Studies Tutor Bellmere, QLD
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to show the student that they can have fun while they learn. I am a very patient person and I am able to explain things in a variety of different ways, a skill, that I believe, of vital importance to a tutor. I also love coming up with different ways to make sessions as fun as…

Inside Caboolture SouthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Joshua worked on solving linear equations and algebraic fractions using targeted textbook questions.

For Year 11, Rebecca focused on simplifying ratios and tackling rates problems from her homework.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Dirk reviewed the basics of parabolas and hyperbolas by working through foundational equations to strengthen his understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student struggled to keep subject notes organised, which made it hard to review maths concepts like median formulas—needs to improve with note-taking and keeping notes in one cohesive notebook.

In Year 11, another student was unable to access online homework due to computer setup issues, so recent assignments weren't attempted.

During a Year 8 algebra session, skipping steps while solving equations led to confusion: he skipped some steps in figuring out the questions presented, which led to some confusion in how to tackle the question.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner repeatedly left homework incomplete despite reminders.

Recent Achievements

One Caboolture South tutor noticed that a Year 9 student, Joshua, has started to ask specific questions whenever he's unsure about steps in problem solving—something he previously avoided by staying quiet or guessing.

Meanwhile, Rebecca (Year 10) showed a new willingness to admit when she didn't understand a question and asked for clarification instead of trying to move on without help.

In primary sessions, Charlie (Year 3) began talking through his strategies out loud during maths activities, rather than relying on silent guessing.

Last week, Joshua finished an entire set of matrix equations with only one prompt needed for wording.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Yes she certainly got a lot out of it. Ben is s terrific, gentle teacher who was just the right person for her.

I'd like to let you know how happy we are with Lauren.  She has helped Zac to not only understand math concepts but has helped him gain confidence in his own ability.  He had gone from C grades to A- and A in recent exams.

Thank you so much for your assistance over the past months. Alex has progressed quite well and is getting more enjoyment out the subject given that he now has a better grasp of it.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Caboolture Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Alta-1 College - Morayfield Temporary Facility.
