Legal Studies Tutor Upper Caboolture, QLD
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to show the student that they can have fun while they learn. I am a very patient person and I am able to explain things in a variety of different ways, a skill, that I believe, of vital importance to a tutor. I also love coming up with different ways to make sessions as fun as…

Listen to feedback. Make sure they understand what they are being taught and determine if a new approach is needed. Sometimes the same information can be summarised and presented in a different way that is just easier for some people to understand. My own capacity for learning. Inside Upper CabooltureTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Darell revised prime and composite numbers, square and triangular numbers, and worked through exam-style questions.

In Year 9, Rebecca focused on simplifying ratios and multiplying/dividing like terms using her homework exercises.

Year 11 student Joshua tackled trigonometry questions with a focus on the cosine rule and also began working through quadratic equation problems to support his current unit.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student skipped writing out steps in algebra, leading to confusion when errors needed correcting; as one tutor put it, "he sometimes skips ahead a few steps which could lead to mistakes being made."

In Year 10, difficulty with keeping maths notes organized meant that recalling formulas for statistics was slower and less reliable during practice questions.

A Year 5 learner avoided attempting more complex word problems, often giving up quickly if the answer wasn't obvious—this hesitation blocked chances to build confidence through gradual problem-solving successes.

Missed homework in Year 4 also limited reinforcement of multiplication skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Upper Caboolture recently noticed Joshua, a Year 11 student, starting to study more on his own and actively asking questions when stuck—something he was hesitant to do earlier in the term.

Rebecca, in Year 9, now readily admits when she doesn't understand a question and tackles unfamiliar topics by asking for clarification instead of guessing.

Meanwhile, Summer (Year 5) is beginning to solve maths problems independently and only needs a couple of hints before getting the right answer. In her last session, she worked through fraction grouping almost entirely without help.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Maham is great and Sabrina enjoys the maths tutoring. Maham is patient, soft spoken and always on time.

Blair has only had three tutoring sessions so far but is really enjoying them. He and Suraj seem to be working well together. With each session they seem to be becoming more confident with each other.

Michael has made a huge difference already, and we are very happy with his work so far. Mia is listening to him and there is some great mutual respect happening. I love that when mia doesn't know something he ensures to not make her feel silly. It has helped her confidence Immensely.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Caboolture Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Minimbah State School.
