A tutor should be able to consider the wants and needs of the student, as well as keeping a steadily growing pace in terms of learning content. If a student is lacking in a specific area, the tutor should be able to recognise that and determine or formulate content plans to help mitigate that. I believe any and every student should learn and…

Most students get tutoring because they are not understanding the content taught to them by their teachers at school so it is the tutor's job to teach in a way…

My teaching style is a self-made one which is partially inspired by my mom and my grandmother who were also teachers. * I try to simplify things as much as possible. In fact, i believe, the most difficult thing to do is to simplify something. * I always try to include real-life examples while explaining concepts which helps the students to…

Positive words: having treated my student(s) as my younger brother(s)/sister(s), I only pursue the best to them even if circumstances (grades/scores/situations) are not in their favor, I have never used the word "fail". 3.) Balance love with goals. Hence, strictness. 4.) Aside from…

Every learner has different requirements and preferences. It is critical that a physics tutor be able to modify their education to fit each student's unique needs. Tutors can modify their approach to enhance comprehension and engagement by having a thorough awareness of the student's strengths, weaknesses, and preferred learning style. Ability to…

Help them to actually learn the subject matter, and to help them want to learn. Having someone genuinely willing to spend time and effort to help you learn something is valuable when you're struggling, so if a physics tutor can do that for a student, wonderful things could happen. Reframing a concept in way that is more understandable, patience,…

Inspire them. One of the biggest roadblocks for many students is a general reluctance to do it due to negative stigma from either their parents, peers or even themselves. Sometimes when students don't quite grasp a concept, they will think "well I just don't get it", and then further down the line every time that concept is built upon, they will…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to offer them quality information and direct feedback on their work and areas of struggle. Additionally, a tutor should be humble such that they do not impose their own ideas onto a student, but rather walk alongside the student's journey of learning. This helps to establish a strong…

The single most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to be patient. Everyone learns things at different rates and some things may come more easily than others. If the tutor becomes frustrated it only ends up discouraging and demoralising the student which further affects their study and confidence. Hence, it is vital for a tutor…

The most important that a physics tutor can do for a student is to be the best friend of that student. It is crucial to remember that there are many other aspects to that student than just academic. I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do is to make the student take an active role in their learning. A tutor also needs to be well informed on the…

The most vital thing a physics tutor can do for any student is to ensure comprehension of the topic. Notably, in math. However, if a student can understand why those steps are happening, and delve into fundamentals of the problem, then…

Inside Carole ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ella worked on solidifying multiplication skills with the column method and was introduced to division strategies, often using mental calculations and timed activities.

In Year 10, Jay revised linear relations by tackling exercise-based questions on graphing and clearing doubts about equations.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Olivia focused on advanced probability density functions and practiced different integral types, deepening her understanding through worked examples and application tasks.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7 mathematics, one student's written work during long division and formula application was often messy and hard to follow, making it difficult to pinpoint where errors occurred; as a tutor observed, "the layout of working out needs to be neater."

In Year 10 biology, another student repeatedly left homework incomplete and fell behind on key content—this led to confusion when revising Specht's Classification.

During a senior physics draft session, feedback was not always acted upon promptly, which slowed improvement between drafts. The sense of being unprepared lingered at the start of each new topic.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Carole Park recently saw a Year 11 student shift from hesitating with calculus to independently working out the expected value and percentiles for probability density functions—something she'd previously needed step-by-step guidance for.

In Year 9, another student who used to stay quiet during lessons has started talking aloud through problems and now regularly asks questions when confused, which is a big change from just guessing answers before.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 5 managed to quickly tell the time using phrases like "quarter to" without prompting, then ordered several times correctly on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My son Matthew has been a student of Arda's here in Perth. Arda has been fantastic and helped Matthew through the difficulties he was having. Matthew has achieved 93% in his last exam and his class tests have all been consistently high.

It is a great pleasure for us too, to see Vas enjoying his lessons, and trying his utmost hardest to listen and catch up. This is all due to Jake too, he is a very big favourite to Vas, he loves his lessons with him, as he explains everything they are doing till Vas understands.

Things are going great - James got over 90% in a recent test, and said it felt easy because he understood it. That's what I want to hear.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Inala Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Camira State School.
