Engineering Studies Tutor Darling Heights, QLD
In my opinion, the most important thing about tutoring is creating rapport with the student. Because when the student likes you, he/she begins to trust you. And when you gain their trust, they would listen to what you are saying then they would learn what you are tutoring. As a tutor, my strength is I have a really deep foundation of Mathematics…

Local Reviews

Nick has been excellent for our son and has taken him from grade E in maths to now achieving B's. Our son has become much more confident in his maths and is now able to tackle difficult questions without hesitation.

Inside Centenary HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Alex revised algebra basics by practising opening brackets and solving word problems, and also strengthened skills with integer operations.

For Year 10, Mia worked on quadratic functions using completing the square as well as tackling area calculations for compound shapes like triangles and circles.

Meanwhile, a senior student in Year 12 focused on financial maths—covering annuities and compound interest—and reviewed chemistry concepts such as balancing redox reactions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student arrived without completing any homework, which meant time was lost reviewing unfinished material instead of progressing.

In Year 11, as a tutor noted, "he had not done any of the homework assigned either," leading to gaps when tackling new Statistics concepts.

Another senior student struggled with organizing schoolwork—notes were scattered and tasks forgotten.

For a Year 5 learner, written work in multiplication remained messy; steps were skipped or jumbled when tired.

In one case, a Year 10 student avoided writing full working for algebra problems—errors stayed hidden until marked, delaying feedback and progress.

Recent Achievements

One Centenary Heights tutor noticed a Year 9 student who used to get distracted and make careless mistakes now pausing to check his work—he finished today's problems with far fewer errors than usual.

In a recent high school session, a Year 11 student who had previously hesitated to ask for help began actively raising doubts during algebra, working through questions out loud instead of staying silent.

Meanwhile, a primary student showed real initiative by completing all her assigned times tables before the lesson and tackled new ones with noticeably more speed than in previous weeks.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Everything is going well with Warit. Evan is happy with him so far. I trust that will continue.  He's comfortable to ask if he doesn't understand something. Warit has given Evan some good maths tips with his times tables that Evan has understood.

Emily is doing very well and Melanie is great. Emily is really comfortable with her and although it is early days she is improving. I am really happy with Melanie and the progress so far.

In a nut shell, we are very happy with Tamara and Laura's progress so far. Her teaching techniques are excellent, exactly what Laura needed & to top it off she is very well mannered and very patient. You can also see that she genuinely enjoys teaching/educating her students. It's a shame there are not more teachers like her!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Highfields Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Centenary Heights State High School.
