Engineering Studies Tutor Rangeville, QLD
Building a deep connection with the student. Solving a problem together and clearly explaining why they went wrong and how it can be improved. This way the student can answer any problem with ease. I build a deep connection with the student and create custom analogies to make them clearly understadn the concept. I use active recall in my teaching…

Engineering Studies Tutor Darling Heights, QLD
In my opinion, the most important thing about tutoring is creating rapport with the student. Because when the student likes you, he/she begins to trust you. And when you gain their trust, they would listen to what you are saying then they would learn what you are tutoring. As a tutor, my strength is I have a really deep foundation of Mathematics…

Local Reviews

I emailed Ezymath and they got back to me within 24hrs. Found out what I needed and got me in touch with a tutor. Very easy to start the process. First tutor did not gel with our child so we were not charged and they put us in contact with another who is just the fit. The admin have been more than helpful and friendly every step of the way. We found that we needed to redo some things and strat from fresh, the tutor is excellent.

Inside RedwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Priya focused on algebra basics, tackling word problems and practising opening brackets, while also revisiting integer operations through targeted worksheets.

Year 10 student Sam reviewed quadratic functions using completing the square and received guidance with structuring his Specialist Maths assignment draft.

For a Year 11 student, recent lessons covered balancing redox reactions in Chemistry—identifying oxidised/reduced species—and applying financial maths to annuities and compound interest scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often left homework incomplete, as a tutor noted, "he had not done any of the homework assigned," which meant less opportunity to consolidate new concepts between sessions.

In Year 7, distraction was a recurring challenge—one lesson ended with "very distracted and very easily loses focus," so key steps were missed in algebra problems.

Organization issues surfaced in Year 11: when notes weren't structured for an upcoming assignment, time was lost figuring out how to start rather than building arguments.

On one occasion, a primary student avoided writing working out due to wanting the answer quickly; errors crept in unnoticed.

Recent Achievements

A Redwood tutor noticed a Year 8 student who previously struggled to stay on task now focusing through entire sessions and even talking through his algebra steps out loud, something he hesitated to do at first.

In senior years, one high schooler showed a clear shift by seeking teacher feedback on an assignment and articulating the limitations of his modelling in data analysis—this independent approach marks real growth from earlier passive habits.

Another upper-year student, who once found electrolysis questions overwhelming, worked steadily until he could sort them himself and complete similar tasks without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are thrilled with Ross he is so knowledgeable and has a great rapport with James already. Very happy customers.

I am pleased to say that Tayla is gaining confidence already. Courtney is amazing with Tayla. Tayla just sat a test that Courtney had helped prepare for and got her highest mark in months.

I have spoken with Cate who is finding Nikhil's explanation of maths concepts very helpful.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Highfields Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Joseph's College.
