I think in addition to helping a student reach their full potential in a subject, fostering a safe and secure environment where the student feels comfortable and ready to learn is one of the most important things. This allows them to explore their curiosity and allows them to ask questions or clarify any doubts, which is key in their improvement.…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to create a safe, supportive environment, explain material clearly in a way that matches the student’s learning style, and help build the student’s confidence. It’s also important to listen actively so you understand what the student is struggling with and adjust your approach…

The important thing is to understand where the student is having difficulties and to tailor the teaching to best resolve the issues. Only then can the student feel satisfied and accomplished. But above all, it is necessary to make the lessons enjoyable for them and get them interested in subject. My strength lies in the ability to engage with the…

I believe that the most important thing for a tutor to do is to provide an environment in which the student feels supported, accepted and confident. I believe this can be done through identifying weaknesses and strengths and tailoring to suit the students learning style. I am very relatable and easy to get a long with. I really enjoy working with…

Being approachable and easy to talk to. Without proper communication between learners and teachers, areas in need for improvement cannot be identified. By being easy to talk to, students are more likely to ask for help when they truly need it. Along with this, they are likely to be more active in their learning, asking questions when they don’t…

It is extremely important that the tutor genuinely cares about how the student is learning. It would be very disappointing if a tutor only cared about the money he gets and that he is doing his job. A tutor must truly want the student to do well and to succeed. Students find my outstanding communication skills and patience very helpful in…

I break concepts down into simpler forms and make them relatable so they are easier to digest. I work through issues while understanding the student’s point of view, which bodes well for a pupil’s development. I build a relationship based on trust and respect whilst keeping it a bit fun as well. This goes a long way. One thing that stuck…

As a tutor I believe it is very important to be able to communicate well with your student so the lessons you try and teach are undrstood. It is also very important to develop a good positive relationship as I believe that providing a good learning environment goes a long way in helping the students with their learning. A definite strength that I…

Teaching them the content in an understandable method, teaching them until they understand the content and letting them know the importance of studying the respective material. I also believe that it is important to understand the student. To make them happy, ask them and mentor them when they feel down, help them and guide them when it is needed…

I believe there are a few things a tutor must do to be a good tutor. Firstly the tutor must understand that every student is different and teaching must be customised in a way to keep your student’s concentration while developing a genuine interest in the subject, soo that lessons doing become a chore. Next, preparation is key. Lastly a tutor…

The most important factor of being a tutor is patience and compassion; an understanding that not all students learn and retain knowledge in the same way and a willingness to cater teaching methods to each child's needs. I believe a tutor should be a mentor, someone the student can relate to and feel comfortable expressing their problems to, but should also be assertive and draw the line between being professional and being a friend. I think a tutor should do her best to teach the student to the best of his/her abilities, even if that means going slightly over…

The most important thing I would say, would be to cater to each student's unique method of learning. There are many ways of digesting information and of understanding, many students struggle in school because they are forced to fit into only one or two ways of studying and learning, which may not be the most helpful for them. I as a tutor, pay…

A tutor should ensure that each concept is fully grasped by the student as well as retained over the course of time. Each tutor should continually check in with the student on holidays to ensure their work is completed. Furthermore, I believe a tutor should be ready to teach the same concept multiple times and give them enough practice. I believe…

Ezy Math Tutoring have been extremely helpful and easy to deal with. Very professional with their communication and efforts to find the right tutors to fit my son's needs. The tutors themselves have made a big difference to my son's school performance and have always been reliable, knowledgeable, relatable and friendly. Highly Recommend.

Inside ChadstoneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 Mason practiced reading comprehension by answering questions about short stories and tackled subtraction problems from his maths workbook, also focusing on letter formation in handwriting.

In Year 11, Ash reviewed dramatic techniques in Greek tragedy—exploring catharsis and the tragic hero—and studied leadership styles and organisational structures for business management using real-world examples.

Another session with Ash (Year 12) focused on applying business management concepts to exam-style case study scenarios, discussing how different organisational approaches impact outcomes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student preparing for Business Management SACs struggled with time management, leaving some exam questions unfinished and rushing essay structure—"needed more precise argument progression," one note read.

In Psychology, another senior hesitated to put definitions in their own words, making revision less effective.

A Year 9 student's homework was repeatedly incomplete; when asked about it, they admitted motivation had dropped after missing earlier deadlines.

In Years 3–4 maths, several students avoided writing working for addition and subtraction problems ("did the maths in his head and couldn't explain reasoning"), leading to confusion and slow progress when faced with new question types.

Recent Achievements

Ash has started setting her own goals and now organises all her work ahead of time—something she hadn't done before—so she's fully prepared for assessments in business management.

In Year 11 English, another student who used to struggle with structuring essays was able to funnel her ideas into three clear topic sentences during an essay planning session.

Meanwhile, Mason managed to read two chapters aloud of an illustrated novel with minimal help after previously needing frequent prompting on each page.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Phoenix Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Salesian College Chadstone.
