DIFFERENCE. A tutor can make a difference. He can change a student's life because tutors connect with students at different levels so they should be committed to their well being both inside and outside classroom. I think that my strength as a tutor is my flexibility and willingness to learn and try new things. I always try to be creative and…

I think it is most important to be patient with the students and to ensure they properly understand the concepts being taught before moving onto the next topic. You must also be understanding and empathic with the students to show you can appreciate where they are coming from or why they are thinking a certain way whether it is in the way they…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is ensuring his/her availability when they need it the most, in short being accountable to them. Apart from helping them learn the concepts, a tutor must ensure that they can give enough time to solve children's problems be it subject related or something else which can be personal. The tutor…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to listen to them. If you do not have two way communication a lot of details can be lost in translation or misunderstood . I am patient and I adapt to my students learning style in order to have effective communication. I plan material ahead of the lesson to ensure that the time I have…

Tutors should be able to make a student not feel bad for having trouble during lessons. They should allow them to feel open to asking questions and asking for help when they do not understand an aspect of something being taught. I think I can connect and befriend students well as a tutor. I try my best to make students as comfortable as they can…

Not only providing valuable insights into learning techniques and skillsets constructed from personal experience, but also giving students the necessary ingredients for building their own toolset with guidance and advice. Hear a student out! With my past experience as well, I have learnt that understanding a concept from the student's perspective first is very important when teaching as it helps the tutor learn where the student has gone wrong exactly and correct the student as much needed without making them feel under confident or unheard. This gives them the…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be empathetic to the experience of a student, especially as a young person. In my opinion, a tutor is not just for supporting a student to complete his assessments and helping them to solve questions. A tutor has an even more close connection with a student than his school teacher. Hence he has a better chance to identify what is the level of a particular student and what support he or she actually needs. Other…

First and foremost helping the student to develop logic, as logic is everywhere, and making them understand each problem before solving it. The most important way would be to change the way of learning. Finally, the main part would be to increase their grades, so that they can enroll in world-reputed universities and colleges in the near future…

I think the most significant thing that a tutor can do is to instill confidence in the student, make them able to learn, and independent learners. It's not providing them with the answers but making them see the 'why' about things. A good tutor listens, is attuned to the way of learning of the student, and gets them at ease asking questions and…

We are very happy with our experience so far. It was simple to arrange and there was no problem finding a tutor available at the time we needed. We chose EzyMath tutoring as it was the only company that didn't send endless texts and emails to get us to sign up. The tutor arrived on time and kept my daughter engaged on maths the entire hour. Although she doesn't love maths (yet) the look of pride on her face after each session has been amazing.

Inside CoburgTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Ava practised addition and subtraction using a number line, and worked through NAPLAN-style word problems.

In Year 10, Jasmine focused on solving and rearranging algebraic equations as well as revising linear equations in preparation for her test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Emmanuel explored circular functions—graphing sine and cosine—and tackled trigonometric equations to prepare for his upcoming CAT assessment.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student became overwhelmed when facing unfamiliar algebra problems and tended to freeze rather than attempt different strategies, as noted: "He easily gets overwhelmed when faced with an unfamiliar problem."

In Year 11 calculus, skipping careful reading of questions led to repeated errors during CATs; one tutor observed he "needed to read the question more carefully."

Meanwhile, a primary student working on subtraction sometimes forgot to borrow but quickly improved once reminded.

For a Year 8 student, untidy written work in dividing polynomials meant errors went unnoticed until final checks.

These moments often left students frustrated or second-guessing themselves mid-task.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Coburg recently noticed Emmanuel, a Year 12 student, tackling complex numbers for the first time—a notoriously tricky topic—but he managed to grasp key ideas right away after struggling with similar advanced material last term.

Yvonne, also in high school, has shifted from relying on hints to independently placing angles and finding reference angles on the unit circle during calculus sessions.

Meanwhile, Jett in primary school explained multi-digit subtraction using an algorithm out loud—something he was hesitant to do before—and now confidently checks his own answers without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbell-Turnbull Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Islamic College of Sport.
