Alongside the expected imparting of understanding of knowledge to a student, I think a good tutor can change a student's attitude toward a subject. While not every student may learn to love a subject, there is always room to see it from another perspective and realise that may it isn't all that bad or unmasterable! I believe I have a talent for…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is build up their confidence and stop them from getting discouraged. I often find that if a student is having difficulties, they stop wanting to succeed in that subject. If you convince them that with a little bit of extra work they'll be doing really well, they often gain confidence…

I wish to try my best to check the omissions and fill in the gaps for students and clear up the thoughts of the students with the simplest and direct method. Teaching them the methods to deal with the problems, not only one answer. Make sure students are able to draw inferences about other cases from one instance I have enough patience to explain…

1. Know the student well enough - their characters, strengths and weaknesses. Only by this can the tutor "cooperate" with them in few hours in a week and bring true support to their study. 2. Bring honest, constructive feedback for the student to know what's needed to advance. 3. Be there as source of motivation for the student to trust…

I believe that a tutors role is to build a student's capability and confidence to engage with and excel in the materials they are provided with in their studies. For some students this means focusing on fundamentals that may have been overlooked, for some this means teaching them to apply what they know to new contexts and for some this simply…

Firstly, tutors can guide the students in their learning and boost their knowledge in areas that they are not confident in or have fallen behind from school. Tutors enhance the student's academic ability so they can perform at their best. Secondly, tutors have the power to motivate and encourage students to keep working hard and not to give up,…

Everybody learns differently, and trying to apply the same approach to everyone is going to leave students struggling and frustrated. I adapt my teaching style to the way a student learns, and don't enforce a certain way of thinking - instead, I equip them with the tools to approach any problem in a way that works for them. I have two years'…

To really understand where the student is coming from. Far too often throughout my own life I have been frustrated with the way in which teachers and tutors treat you as just another student and bulldoze you with an answer before you've even managed to get you question out. Show them that they are capable of the work and believe in them; often kids get discouraged from test scores but I think they just need to know that they are capable. I think a tutor can give them the confidence to assert their knowledge in their work and in the classroom then. As well as this, when they believe they are capable of the work, they…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student depends on the student. For some high-achieving students that are already confident this may mean better grades that allow them to follow a career path they've dreamed of, and for others the confidence a tutor can give them is more useful than any material they have learnt. To inspire and…

I believe that to be considered a good tutor, one must communicate with their student in order to get the most out of a lesson. The student should walk away after each lesson feeling fulfilled and have a better understanding of content. I believe that I am strong at listening to the student's needs and adapting to fit a system that can benefit…

Local Reviews

We are very happy with our experience so far. It was simple to arrange and there was no problem finding a tutor available at the time we needed. We chose EzyMath tutoring as it was the only company that didn't send endless texts and emails to get us to sign up. The tutor arrived on time and kept my daughter engaged on maths the entire hour. Although she doesn't love maths (yet) the look of pride on her face after each session has been amazing.

Inside CoburgTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Ava practised addition and subtraction using a number line, and worked through NAPLAN-style word problems.

In Year 10, Jasmine focused on solving and rearranging algebraic equations as well as revising linear equations in preparation for her test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Emmanuel explored circular functions—graphing sine and cosine—and tackled trigonometric equations to prepare for his upcoming CAT assessment.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student became overwhelmed when facing unfamiliar algebra problems and tended to freeze rather than attempt different strategies, as noted: "He easily gets overwhelmed when faced with an unfamiliar problem."

In Year 11 calculus, skipping careful reading of questions led to repeated errors during CATs; one tutor observed he "needed to read the question more carefully."

Meanwhile, a primary student working on subtraction sometimes forgot to borrow but quickly improved once reminded.

For a Year 8 student, untidy written work in dividing polynomials meant errors went unnoticed until final checks.

These moments often left students frustrated or second-guessing themselves mid-task.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Coburg recently noticed Emmanuel, a Year 12 student, tackling complex numbers for the first time—a notoriously tricky topic—but he managed to grasp key ideas right away after struggling with similar advanced material last term.

Yvonne, also in high school, has shifted from relying on hints to independently placing angles and finding reference angles on the unit circle during calculus sessions.

Meanwhile, Jett in primary school explained multi-digit subtraction using an algorithm out loud—something he was hesitant to do before—and now confidently checks his own answers without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbell-Turnbull Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Islamic College of Sport.
