To be honest private tutoring is excess work for students. Students are already fed up with school work and then coming back home for further math is not a enjoyment for a typical student (I was the same in my childhoodðŸ˜). So the tutor must be able to make the subject more enjoyable and less stressful. So that the student won't find it hectic…

To understand the student's thought processes and tailor lessons based on how they think. By doing this, I believe that the student will learn new concepts in such way that is natural for their reasoning. Also, that they have truly mastered the lesson material. I work hard to understand what are the points, or topics the students are struggling…

A tutor can create a positive learning environment as being supportive, encouraging etc. He can understand the strength and weekness of a student and work on them. He should be able to provide explanation to the concepts. Moreover, a tutor should provide constructive and specific feedback to the students so that they can improve their…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to develop an organic interest in the subject, where a student, of his own accord, picks up the topic and explores it. Larger goal remains that of the student being able to maximize their potential and develop confidence and self-belief. If a tutor can spark an interest where the…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can pass onto a student is confidence in that learning area, as confidence can act as a motivator for improvement. Whilst helping a pupil to overcome their challenges is definitely required, I think that providing students with the tools to overcome similar, future problems is far more effective, as…

The most important things a tutor can do for their student are to be patient, be approachable, be kind and be able to teach. The student should be able to walk away from a lesson feeling confident in what they learned and not being afraid to ask any questions. I would definitely say my strengths as a tutor would be my ability to communicate…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is build the student’s confidence. Inside CrawleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Tanisha focused on trigonometric functions, specifically working through where and why she finds these challenging.

In Year 10, Chloe prepared for an upcoming Matrices test by tackling matrix operations and understanding adjacency matrices as used in different graph types.

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Sofia practised addition and subtraction of two- and three-digit numbers along with revision of multiplication tables for improved number fluency.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student often avoided writing out steps when tackling equations, preferring to "solve in his mind"—this led to confusion and errors, especially as problems became more complex.

In Year 11 English, another student struggled with essay planning and left arguments underdeveloped; a tutor noted, "he needs more practice in forming concise points which support his argument."

Meanwhile, in Year 6 Maths, a student was quick to use the calculator before attempting questions independently. These habits resulted in lost marks or incomplete understanding during assessments, causing visible frustration and dented confidence mid-task.

Recent Achievements

A Crawley tutor recently saw Chloe, a high school student, start making her own summary notes during lessons—she'd previously relied only on verbal explanations, but now refers back to her written notes when tackling practice problems in Matrices.

In another session, Gabriel, also in high school, showed a shift by recalling formulas for area and volume from memory without prompts; earlier sessions had him frequently pausing to check or ask for reminders.

Meanwhile, Flynn (Year 6) moved from needing step-by-step help with rearranging equations to working through hypotenuse problems independently after just a few guided examples.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would like to say that Sultan was a fantastic tutor for Daniel and I feel sad to have to end the tutoring with him. In the short time that he was tutoring Daniel, Daniel learnt a lot in maths. Could you please let Sultan know and please let him know how happy I was with him as a tutor for Daniel.

Vibhuti has been good so far, very nice and punctual. My daughter seems to get along with her well and I imagine they will get more productive as the time passes.

So far, so good with Jie tutoring Charlie. Jie is professional, organised, and has warm and friendly nature.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nedlands Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Nedlands Primary School.
